Wegelin
Ludwig Wegelin, a weaver, and his wife Anna Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 13.
Ludwig Wegelin and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Merkel in Household No. Mr09 along with a note that he is living in Kratzke where he is serving as the schoolteacher.
[Johann] Jakob Wegelin, son of Ludwig Wegelin, and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Dietel in Household No. 6 along with a note that they had arrived in Dietel from Merkel in 1799.
Jakob Wegelin and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Dietel in Household No. 183 along with a note that he and his oldest son Georg had moved back to Merkel in 1829.
Johann Jakob Wegelin and his son Johann Georg Wegelin are recorded on the 1834 census of Merkel along with a note that they had arrived in Merkel from Dietel in 1829.
The 1767 census records that Ludwig Wegelin came from the German village of Wengern [?] in Prussia.
