Lechman(n)

Sebastian Lechmann, a farmer, his wife Christina, and children (Agness, age 17; Johannes, age 9; Michael 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Grapp.

Sebastian Lechmann, his wife Christina, and children (Johannes, age 19; Angneas, age 17¼; Michael, age 9) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Rothammel on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18.

Lauer (Rothammel)

Siblings Katharina and Lorenz Lauer arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Grapp along with the Anton Bernhardt family.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Rothammel on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.  Anton Bernhardt is recorded as their stepfather, but neither Anton nor his wife Barbara are old enough to be their parent, so there must have been earlier marriages for one or both of them.

Christiansen (Schäfer)

Sören Christiansen, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family, including stepson Georg Wilhelm (surname not recorded) settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 6 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

The 1767 census records that Sören Christiansen came from the Danish town of Copenhagen.

Brockmann (Schäfer)

Peter Brockmann, a merchant (Kaufmann), and his wife Anna Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 36.

The 1767 census records that Peter Brockmann came from the German region of Homburg [?].

Becht (Schäfer)

Andreas Becht, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Maria Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 37.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Becht came from the German village of Halber [Halbe?] in the region of Brandenburg.

Maas (Schäfer)*

Martin Michael Maas, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34.

The 1767 census records that Martin Michael Maas came from the German region of Berlin.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Maas family among the Volga German colonies.

Manus (Schäfer)*

Carl Manus (age 2) settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 33 along with his stepfather, Kornelius Larson.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Manus family among the Volga German colonies.

Larson (Schäfer)

Kornelius Larson, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Anna Katharina, and his stepson Carl Manus settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 33.

The 1767 census records that Kornelius Larson came from the Danish village of Nasku [?].

Fabian (Schäfer)*

Johann Friedrich Fabian, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32.

The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Fabian came from the German town of Lübeck.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Fabian family among the Volga German colonies.
