Schmidt (Preuss-3)

Johann Just Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife, Elisabeth Margaretha, settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 125.

The 1767 census records that they came from the German village of Ginseldorf in Kurmainz.

Schmidt (Preuss-2)

Peter Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife, Anna Christina, settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 54.

Peter Schmidt and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps49.

The 1834 census of Preuss records in Household No. 135 that Peter's son Heinrich and several of his sons moved from Preuss to Göbel. They are recorded on the 1834 census of Göbel in Household No. 35 along with a note that they had arrived there in 1829.

Schmidt (Preuss-1)

Johannes Schmidt, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, children (Johannes, age 12; Maria Ursula, age 12), and step-sons (Johannes [surname not recorded], age 16; Johann Philipp [surname not recorded], age 15) settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

The 1767 census records that this Schmidt family came from the German village of Oberursel in Kurmainz.

Birsack

There are two, presumably related Birsack families that settled in the Volga German colony of Keller.

(1) Johannes Birsack (age 28), a farmer, and his family are recorded in Keller on the 1767 census in Household No. 58.

(2) Philipp Birsack (age 23), a hosier (Strumpfwirker), is recorded in Keller on the 1767 census in Household No. 72.

The 1767 census records that both of these men came from the German village of Oberursel in Kurmainz.

Gut(t)mann (Kutter)

Christoph Gutmann, son of Johannes & Elisabetha Guttman, was baptized in Büdingen on 5 July 1744. Christina Elisabetha Geÿer, daughter of Wilhelm Ludwig & Maria Margaretha Geÿer, was baptized in Büdingen on 30 April 1741.

Christoph Guthmann, son of Johannes Guthmann from Büdingen, & Christine Eliesabethe Geÿer, daughter of the deceased Wilhelm Ludwig Geÿer a tanner (Rothgerber) from Büdingen, were married on 8 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Fischer (Keller-1)*

Widow Barbara Fischer and her unnamed husband settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767. Her unnamed husband died 29 September 1767. Barbara is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 70.

The 1767 census records that this Fischer family came from the German village of Reifenberg.

There do not appear to be any male descendants of this Fischer family among the Volga German colonies.

Sturm (Preuss)*

Johann Adam Sturm, son of Johannes & Anna Dorothea Sturm, married on 8 May 1753 in Oberreifenberg to Susanna Verrhoff, daughter of Conrad & Anna Catharina Verrhoff.

The baptisms of the following children born to Johann Adam Sturm & Susanna Verrhoff are recorded in the parish register of Oberreifenberg: (1) Maria Eva, baptized 19 March 1754; (2) Johann Jacob, baptized 27 August 1756; (3) Anna Margaretha, baptized 20 February 1759; (4) Johannes, born 4 June 1762, baptized 5 June 1762; and (5) Catharina, born & baptized 6 August 1765.

Fuchs (Dehler)*

Ernst Fuchs, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 7; Johann age ¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Der Junge Mattias under the command of Skipper Johann Gottfried Selander.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dehler on 1 July 1767.  Arnestus, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Elisabeth (age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dehler in Household No. 8.

The 1767 census records that this family came from the German village of Reifenberg in the region of Bassenheim.
