Dillmann (Pobochnaya)*

Wilhelmina Dillmann  and her sister Rosina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 July 1772 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hartwig.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pobochnaya on 4 July 1773.

They are recorded on a 1773 list of Pobochnaya settlers (No. 30).

There are no known surviving male lines of this Dillmann family among the Volga German colonies.

Brack (Pobochnaya)

Johann Philipp Brack, his wife Anna Maria Neidling, and children (Johann Heinrich, age 11; Christina, age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 July 1772 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hartwig.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pobochnaya on 4 July 1773.

They are recorded on a 1773 list of Pobochnaya settlers (No. 5).

Appel (Pobochnaya)

Ernst Appel, his wife Katharina Helmut, sons (Ernst Heinrich, age 3; Johann Heinrich, age ¾), and sister-in-law Elisabeth Helmut (age 32) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 July 1772 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hartwig.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pobochnaya on 4 July 1773.

They are recorded on a 1773 list of Pobochnaya settlers (No. 21).

Schäfer (Pobochnaya)

Johann [Nikolaus] Schäfer and his wife Anna Wilhelmina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 July 1772 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hartwig.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pobochnaya on 4 July 1773. They are recorded on a 1773 list of Pobochnaya settlers (No. 1).

In 1789, Nikolaus Schäfer, his wife Barbara Helena, and children (Karl, Heinrich, Johann, Christian, Nikolaus, Susanna, Maria, Maria [again], Margaretha, Anna Elisabeth, Katharina Elisabeth) moved from Pobochnaya to Urbach. By 1798, they were living in Pokrovsk [Engels].

Hergert (Dönhof)*

Daniel Hergert, a farmer, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and daughter Maria Elisabeth (age 18) settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 106.

The 1767 census records that Daniel Hergert came from the German region of Zweibrücken.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hergert family among the Volga German colonies.

Rudnya, Saratov Oblast

Rudnya is located a few kilometers northeast of Krasny Kut on the Wiesenseite (east side of the Volga River).

With the establishment of the Autonomous Republic of the Volga Germans in 1924, Rudnya was located inside its borders and many Volga German families moved there.
