Volga German families were sent to Novotroitzkoye as part of Stalin's anti-Kulak program in the 1930s. They were joined by additional Volga German families following the removal of the movement restrictions of the Special Settlements in 1956.
Most of the Volga Germans who lived in Novotroitzkoye have immigrated to Germany.
Today, the village is known as Tolye Bi.
