Johann Gottlob Meisner, son of Johann Michael Meisner & Anna Katharina Haag, was from Reichelsheim, southeast of Darmstadt. He married Anna Christina Fischer, daughter of Hans Georg Fischer & Anna Regina Dobler. She had been born 27 January 1697 in Langen-Brombach. They had one son, Johann Nicolaus Meisner who was born 31 January 1727 in Kirch-Brombach and died 11 February 1727 in Kirch-Brombach.

Anna Christina Fischer Meisner died and Johann Gottlob Meisner remarried in Reichelsheim on 16 September 1732 to Elisabeth Catharina Lauth, daughter of Adam Lauth & Magdalena Körber. She was born 20 July 1712 in Klein-Gumpen.

They have 5 children born in Reichelsheim: (1) Alexander, born 8 December 1732; (2) Johann Wendel, born about 1735; (3) Eva Catharina, born 25 February 1738, died 7 May 1740; (4) Johann Georg, born 23 March 1741, and (5) Johann Heinrich, born 17 March 1744.

The Meisner family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) where they settled in the colony of Julianenebene on 24 July 1761.

The parish register of Kropp [Denmark] records two marriages on 26 May 1761: (1) Johann Wendel Meisner to Christina Trauenfelder; and (2) Alexander Meisner to Margaretha Kaltenberger.

The parish register of Hohn [Denmark] records two marriages on 31 May 1763: (1) Johann Georg Meisner to Elisabeth Schäfer; and (2) Johann Heinrich Meisner to Margaretha Barbara Risch, daughter of Johann Michael Risch.

The parish register of Hohn also records the following baptisms: (1) Maria Catrina, daughter of Johann Wendel & Anna Maria Meisner, baptized on 13 March 1762; (2) Elisabeth Barbara Meisner, daughter of Alexander Meisner & Anna Margaretha Kaltenberger, baptized on 1 March 1763; and (3) Christina Barbara Meisner, daughter of Johann Heinrich Meisner & Gretze [Margaretha?] Barbara Risch, baptized on 2 September 1764.

On 10 January 1765, the Meisner brothers left Denmark and immigrated to Russia where they settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm. They are recorded there on the 1775 census in Households No. 5, 39, 40, & 41. Some translations mis-record this surname as Meisinger.

In 1788, Johann Georg and Mattias Meisner moved from Grimm to Dinkel.

In 1789, Konrad Meisner moved from Grimm to Straub.

Konrad Meisner and his family are recorded on the 1857 Grimm Census in Household No. 113 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Shcherbakovka in 1852. Konrad Meisner from Grimm and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. 212.

They Eichhorns record that Gottlob Meisner came from the German village of "Billings, Amt Lichtenberg, Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt."
