Wirges, Kr. Westerwald, Rheinland-Pfalz

With the dissolution of the Grafschaft Diez in 1564, Wirges became part of Kurtrier.  By 1803 it belonged to the Duchy of Nassau.  In 1866, this area became part of the Kingdom of Prussia, and in 1868 the new province of Hesse-Nassau.
