Schlundt, Johannes

Pastor Schlundt was born 24 September 1900 in Bauer. He was ordained in 1928.

He served the parish in Rosenberg from 1928-1931. He was in hiding from 1931-1934. From 1934-1946 he was in various prisons and labor camps. He was sent into exile in Vorkuta where he was forced to serve as an accountant from 1946-1955. From 1963-1969, he served as a pastor in Alma-Ata, and from 1970-1973 in Prochladny (North Caucasus).

In October 1973 he moved to Germany. He died 20 March 1993 in Marktheidenfeld (Germany).

Schleuning, Johannes

Pastor Johannes Schleuning was born 27 January 1879 in Neu-Norka and died 5 April 1962 in Braunschweig, Germany. He served the congregation in Tiflis from 1910-1914.

He and his family escaped to Germany shortly following the 1917 Revolution in Russia.  From Germany, Pastor Schleuning led human rights efforts in support of his compatriots who remained in Russia. When the Landsmannschaft der Deutschen aus Russland was founded, he became its first president.

Schilling, Julius Georg Philipp

Pastor Julius Georg Philipp Schilling was born 27 April 1862 in Neu-Halbstadt (Molotschna Colonies).

Pastor Schilling was ordained in 1897 in Samara. [Some sources record his ordination on 6 July 1899.]

He served as the assistant pastor in the congregation in Krasnoyar in 1897; from 1898-1904 in Riebensdorf; from 1905-1919 in Glückstal (Odessa); and in Odessa from 1920-1932. After that he returned to Germany. He died 21 October 1947 in Dessau.

Sauer, George Jr. (b.1943)

George Henry Sauer, Jr., was born 10 November 1943 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He is the son of George H. Sauer, Sr., of the Green Bay Packers. His ancestral home is Norka. He played for the University of Texas and was drafted to the New York Jets where he played for 6 seasons (1965-1970). In 1974, he also played for the New York Stars of the World Football League. He went on to coach a minor league football team.

Sauer, Georg (b.1864)

Father Georg Sauer was born in 1864 in Wittmann.  He graduated from Saratov Seminary and was ordained on 10  May 1887 for the Diocese of Tiraspol. From 1887 he served in Marienberg; from 1899, in Neu-Leibental (Odessa District); from 1911 he was pastor of Mother of God parish in Rohleder on the Lower Volga. In 1921 he and a friend were killed by partisans in his home in Rohleder.
