Stenzel, Johannes

The Rev. Johannes Stenzel, son of Jakob Stenzel from Hussenbach and Katharina Stroh from Frank, was born 25 June 1877 in the Volga German colony of Frank. When he was young, he moved to Wiesenmüller to live with an uncle.

Staub, Alexander

Father Staub was born in May 1870 in Katharinenstadt, and died 3 December 1961 in Alt-Maikuduck, Karaganda.

He was ordained on 20 March 1894.

From 1894 to 1895, he served the Volga German parish in Louis. He served the Kamenka Parish from 1898 to 1906. In 1904 he also began serving the parish of Pfeifer. In 1906, he began service in Zug where he served until 1914. He also served the parish of Schönchen from 1911 to 1912.

He was exiled to Sevastropol in 1928.

Stahf, Michael Peter

Pastor Stahf was born 13 September 1861 in Katharinenstadt. He served the parish in Grimm from 1890 to 1910. From 1910-1918, he was in Dorpat and Riga. In 1919, he escaped to Germany. He died 28 June 1933 in Berlin, Germany. He married in 1890 to Julie Alma Arndt. Alma was born 6 January 1872 in Dorpat and died 23 February 1946 in Rittermannshagen (Mecklenburg).

They had 3 sons: Edgar (8 August 1891 - 18 December 1964), Roland, and Helmut.

Staab, Konrad

The Rev. Konrad Staab was born in 1891 in a Volga German colony. He served in Kamyshin from 1922 to about 1925. By 1925, he was serving in Frank and Hussenbach. He was arrested in Kamyshin in 1934 and died before 1938.

Somelt, Michael

The Rev. Michael Somelt was born 31 August 1868 in Palamuse parish (today located in Jõgeva County) in Estonia. He entered the University of Tartu in the fall of 1888 to study medicine, but changed to study theology.

He was ordained on 15 December 1896 and accepted a call to serve the Volga German parishes of Frank and Hussenbach from 1901-1914.

In 1914, he went to Siberia to found a new congregation.  He contracted tuberculosis there and died on 15/16 July 1915.
