Father Maurice Ackerman of the Capuchian Order, was born in Bendwood, West Virginia, 3 July 1879, the son of Karl and Regina (Helfrich) Ackerman. His father, born in Altenhof, Germany, 4 June 1843, was a wagonmaker and blacksmith in his youth, and served as a feldvebel (sergeant) in the Bavarian Army in the war against Prussia in 1866. The following January he came to America, locating at Washington, D. C., where he worked in the Navy Yard. Later he moved to Pittsburgh, and then to Benwood, West Virginia. Regina Helfrich was born in Thalau, Germany, on 12 February 1853.
Johann Georg Schössler, son of Marcus Schössler & Anna Barbara Beyer, was born 1 September 1711 in Langenschwarz, northeast of Schlitz. He married there on 27 April 1743 to Magdalena Hartmann, daughter of Johannes & Anna Barbara Hartmann. They have six known children, all baptized in Langenschwarz: (1) Johann Kaspar, born 1 February 1744; (2) Anna Barbara, born 3 September 1748, died 19 January 1749; (3) Anna Barbara, born 20 January 1750; (4) Elisabeth, born in 1751; (5) Anna Margaretha, born 4 November 1753, died as an infant; and (6) Anna Margaretha, born 9 June 1755.
Johann Paul Wacker, son of Johannes Wacker & Anna Susanna Maria Klippert, was born 10 December 1741 in Crainfeld where both of his parents had been born. He was the great grandson of Johann Jacob Wacker (who died 4 March 1711 in Crainfeld) and Maria Lauffer. Johann Jacob Wacker is the son of Johannes Wacker from Allmenrod, Germany, who was born about 1620.
Benedict Zorn, son of Johann Georg & Catharina Zorn, was born in Gernsheim on 1 March 1738. He married in Landau in der Pfalz on 4 February 1764 to Margaretha Kühnberger, daughter of Caspar & Maria Apollonia Kühnberger.
Benedict immigrated to Russia. His wife died either before he left Germany or en route.
Benedict Zorn settled in the Volga German colony of Volmer on 18 June 1766, and is listed there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 42 with a new wife named Katharina (age 16).

The marriage of Johannes Zitterkopf from Breitenborn and Christina Eichhorn is recorded in the Büdingen parish records on 16 November 1713. Johannes Zitterkopf died 6 September 1714.

Following their marriage in Büdingen, the couple travelled to Lübeck where they sailed to Oranienbaum aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg. They arrived in Oranienbaum on 29 August 1766.

Johann Konrad Zisch, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Maria, age 22; Konrad, age 19; Martin, age 15; Johann [Christian], age 13) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert. They settled in the Volga German colony of Schwab on 8 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.
Nicolaus Zitzmann, son of Hans Zitzmann (9 February 1678 - 26 October 1741) & Margaretha Heuss (29 September 1686 - 24 March 1758), was born 5 October 1716 in Gersfeld (Röhn), Hessen, Germany, is an original Frank colonist. He married there on 28 August 1742 to Anna Maria Strauch, daughter of Johann Strauch. Anna Maria Strauch had been born 12 May 1723 in Herchenhain.
Some of the children of Nicolaus Zitzmann were born in Dorrnhof and some in Obernhausen, small villages near Gersfeld.
