Weitzel (Norka)

First, it should be noted that there are three Weitzel families that settled in Norka, and while they appear to have come from the same place in Germany, research-to-date has not definitively revealed exactly how they are related to each other. There is also a 4th Weitzel who travelled with them.       

(1) Christoph Weitzel from Bönstadt, just west of Calbach, married in Büdingen on 24 May 1766 to Gerdrauth Kessel who was from Leÿdecken.

Weis(s) (Hölzel)

Johann Benedictus Weiss, a son of Johann Wilibrordus Weiss & Lucia Wiolett, was baptized on 24 June 1742 in the Catholic Church of Bernkastel.

Benedictus Weise [sic] & Engula Vizum [sic] were married on 1 June 1766 in Roßlau.

Johann Benedictus Weiss and his wife Angelica Fuchs emigrated to Russia arriving from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.

Benedictus Weiss and his wife Angela [sic] are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Weisheim (Balzer)

Johann Adam Weisheim was married in Düdelsheim on 21 November 1736 to Sophia Maria Preußer, daughter of Christophel Preußer & Anna Margaretha de Malade.

They have four sons, each baptized in Düdelsheim: (1) Johann Conrad, baptized 1 May 1738; (2) Johann Heinrich, baptized 22 May 1741; (3) Johannes, baptized 20 September 1744; and (4) Johann Adam, baptized 28 April 1748.

Weigand(t) (Norka-1)

Several Weigand siblings and cousins from Altwiedermus arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

These families start with Friedrich Weÿgand, born about 1698, and Joachim Weÿgand, born 30 January 1700, both of whom are sons of Johannes Weÿgand.

Weidhardt

Johann Georg Weidhardt (also spelled Wiedhardt or Weithardt on various sources) was born about 1745 in Ober-Ohmen, southwest of Alsfeld. He was Lutheran. He married Anna Maria Schwing [some sources indicate Schwining] in Büdingen on 28 April 1766. She had been born about 1743 in Herbstein and was Roman Catholic.      

They settled in Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 76. They had no children at the time.      

Weidemann (Frank)

Johannes Weidemann, son of Andreas Weidemann & Anna Barbara Föller, was born 18 September 1734 in Ilbeshausen, Darmstadt, Germany. His lineage can be traced to Conrad Weydemann, born about 1640, of Audra, Eichsfeld, Germany.

Johann Weidemann, a weaver, his wife Margaretha, and daughter Anna Margaretha (age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Frank in 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 64.

Was(s)en

Johann Christoph Wasam, a son of Johannes & Anna Katharina Wasam, was born on 4 June 1725 and baptized on 6 June 1725 in the Meisenheim Evangelical Church, about 39 kilometers north of Kaiserslautern, in Rheinland-Pfalz. He married Maria Charlotta Hermann, a daughter of Philipp Hermann and Maria Susanna Korn, in 1748 in Meisenheim. Maria Charlotta had been born on 29 June 1724 and baptized on 3 July 1724 in Otterberg, 30 kilometers south of Meisenheim.

Weckesser

Danish documents record Johannes and Andreas Weckesser immigrating to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), Johannes in August 1759 and Andreas in May 1760. They are recorded as being from the German village of Sandhausen about 7 kilometers south of Heidelburg in what today is Baden-Württemberg. They and their families left Denmark on 26 April 1763 and joined the migration to the Russian Volga.       

Was(s)inger

Joseph Wassinger married on 3 November 1750 in Ormesheim, today just southeast of the Saarbrücken airport, to Anna Barbara Schledohr, daughter of Claud Schledohr and Margaretha Lenert. Anna Barbara was the widow of Joseph Kinderknecht, and had several children with him.

Both the Wassinger and the Kinderknecht families immigrated to Russia.

The Wassinger family arrived in Graf on 10 June 1766, and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 26.

In 1787, Simon Wasinger moved from Graf to Schäfer.

Was(s)e(n)müller

Johann Peter Wasenmüller was born 4 August 1741 in Kirch-Beerfurth, Hessen, to Johann Philipp Wasenmüller (21 July 1712 - 17 March 1771) & Eva Keil (24 October 1716 - 11 January 1770). He married 19 April 1766 in Büdingen to Elisabeth Margaretha Weinheimer.

Johann [Peter] Wassenmüller and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.
