Will (Straub)

Johann Philipp Will, son of Johann Wilhelm Will & Anna Dorothea Steinhausen, was baptized on 10 July 1729 in Hasselborn. On 15 December 1752, he married Anna Veronica Holland, daughter of Johann Konrad Holland, in the Lutheran Church in Groß-Rechtenbach, southeast of Wetzlar.      

Wilhelm (Kolb)

Johann Phillip Wilhelm, son of Johannes Wilhelm & Susanna Charlotta Höhn, was born 1 Jul 1744 in Altenhaßlau, today a part of the town of Gelnhausen northeast of Hanau. He was baptized in the Reformed Church there. The parents had been married on 4 January 1736 in Lützelhausen, just south of Gelnhausen.       

Philips [sic] Wilhelm & Eliesabetha [sic] Schmidt were married on 5 March 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Wiegand (Köhler)

Gottlieb Wiegand was born in Herbstein, between Giessen and Fulda, on 25 October 1729. He married there on 10 February 1756 to Anna Maria Staubach. She had been born about 1737. They have 3 known children, each born in Herbstein: (1) Georg Anton, born 9 January 1757; (2) Marcus Carl, born 10 August 1761; and (3) Johann Zacharias, born 23 March 1764.       

Wiederspahn

The Gelnhaar parish register records that Johann Heinrich Wiederspahn from Usenborn married on 5 August 1751 to Juliana Engel, daughter of Johannes Engel.

Werfel / Würfel

Johann Jakob Würfel was born in Sinsheim (now in Baden-Württemberg) on 29 August 1725. He married on 26 August 1759 in Leimen (near Heidelberg) to Maria Barbara Blättel. She was born in Leimen on 10 November 1735.       

They moved to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein). Jakob, Barbara, and several children arrived in Anton on 7 September 1764. They are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 20. Barbara later married Johann Heinrich Weisheim from Balzer.

Wenzerich

Hans Adam Wantzerid, son of cobbler David Wantzerid & Anna Maria Gesell, was born 13 July 1700 in Schriesheim. He married 12 February 1725 in Schriesheim to Maria Klara Schneider. She had been born 31 July 1702. They had 5 children whose births are recorded in Schriesheim: (1) Ludwig Philipp, born 25 November 1725; (2) Anna Maria, born 13 October 1727; (3) Catharina, born 3 September 1730, died 13 September 1730; (4) Anna Elisabetha, born 17 October 1731, died 21 October 1731; and (5) Hans Henrich, born 5 January 1733.

Weitz (Yagodnaya Polyana)

Johann Weitz, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.

They arrived in Yagodnaya Polyana on 16 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 19.

Johannes Weitz (age 39), his wife Katharina (age 30), and their son, Johann Heinrich (age 5) are from Eichelsdorf.

Peter Weitz and Johannes Weitz from Yagodnaya Polyana and their families are recorded on the 1857 census of Neu-Yagodnaya-Polyana.

Welsch (Schäfer)

Johannes Welsch, son of Johann Jakob Welsch, was born 5 December 1721 in Ölbronn. He married Maria Margaretha Kluge, daughter of Georg Balthasar Kluge, on 3 February 1750 in the Ölbronn Evangelical Church [today called Ölbronn-Dürrn]. She had been born in 1732.

They had four boys, each born in Ölbronn: (1) Johann Jakob, born 20 February 1752, baptized 21 February 1752; (2) Georg Adam, born & baptized in March 1755; (3) Johannes, born 1 February 1758; and (4) Christian Ulrich, born & baptized 29 October 1760.
