Rube

There are two Rube families that are assumed to be related because they both went first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) and then migrated to the Volga German colony of Schilling. Their exact relationship, if any, needs further research to determine.

(1) Johann Friedrich Rube, his wife, and 3 children immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Fridericia on 5 July 1760. They are last recorded in the Danish colonies on 26 April 1763. Son Johann Adam Rube and his family joined the migration to Russia.

Johann Adam Rube, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and children (Johann Heinrich, age 9; Johann Gottlieb, age 4; Eva Maria, age 1½) are recorded on the 1775 census of Schilling in Household No. 3.

The widow of Adam Rube and their descendants are recorded on the 1798 census of Schilling in Household No. Sg027.

Johann Gottlieb Rube, son of Adam Rube, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Lauwe in Household No. 32 where his death is recorded in 1820.

Heinrich Christian [1798 census of Schilling records his name as Heinrich Christoph] Rube, son of Adam Rube, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Jost in Household No. 44.

The Eichhorns do not record from where Johann Friedrich Rube came.

(2) Christoph Rube (Eichhorn records the spellings of Ruber and Röber), his wife, and 2 children immigrated to Schleswig-Holstein (Denmark), arriving on Flensburg 19 June 1762. They deserted the Danish colonies on 27 April 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.

Christoph Rube, his wife Susanna, and daughters (Eva Elisabeth, age 10; Anna Barbara, age 8) are recorded on the 1775 census of Schilling in Household No. 34 along with a note that their house had burned down in 1768.

The widow of Christoph Rube and their sons are recorded on the 1798 census of Schilling in Household No. Sg035.

The Eichhorns record that Christoph Ruber [sic] came from the village of Kleingartach near Brackenheim in the Württemberg region.
