Töpfer / Toepfer (Philippsfeld)
Johann Konrad Töpfer, son of Johann Heinrich Töpfer & Anna Gela Rosenkrantz, was born on 16 August 1736 in Schellbach, southwest of Remsfeld. He married Anna Martha Reichmann of nearby Remsfeld on 30 September 1765.
Konrad Töpffer, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Joh. Conrad Töpffer [sic], his wife Anna Barbara, and son Johannes (age 4-weeks) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that son Johannes died en route.
Widower Konrad Töpfer, a farmer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Philippsfeld in Household No. 45. He had settled there on 3 August 1767.
In 1786, the Töpfer family moved to the colony of Fischer where they are recorded on the 1798 Census in Household No. Fs06.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Töpfer came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Schellbach in the Hessen region.
