VGI Updates

There are two Held families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. They also settled together in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 3 August 1767. They are presumed to be father and son, but further research is need to confirm this relationship.

(1) Michael Held, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 16½; Johann, age 9) arrrived in Oranienbaum.

There are two Klotzbach families that settled in the Volga German colonies. They are believed to be father and son.

(1) Matthias Klotzbach (age 34), a farmer, his wife Christina, and children (Konrad, age 12; Just, age 10; Anna, age 6; Maria, 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
