Böse*

Johann Heinrich Böse, a chimney sweeper (Schornsteinfeger), and his wife, the former widow Anna Maria Dorothea Knaub, settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30 along with stepson Johann Ludwig Knaub.

The 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich Böse came from the village of Liptitz in Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male descendants of the Böse family among the Volga German colonies.

Knaub (Merkel)

Johann Ludwig Knaub and his widowed mother Anna Maria Dorothea immigrated to Russia.  The widow Knaub remarried to Johann Heinrich Böse and the Böse/Knaub family settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30.

Adam (Merkel)

Michael Adam, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766.  Michael, his wife, and his younger children are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3. An older son, Christoph is recorded in Household No. 37.

The 1767 census records that the Adam family came from the German village of Neuburg in Württemberg.

Schild(t) (Merkel)

Johann Schild, a weaver (Weber), and his wife Anna Louisa settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.

The 1767 census records that Johann Schild came from the German district of Hamburg.

Schu(h)macher (Merkel)

Peter Schuhmacher, a chimney sweep (Schornsteinfeger), settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.

In 1789, Peter Schuhmacher and his family moved from Pobochnaya to Yagodnaya Polyana. On the 1798 census of Merkel (Mr29), Peter Schuhmacher is recorded as residing in Pobochnaya.

Jakob Schuhmacher and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 129 along with a note that Jakob had died there in 1834.

Hellbach

Johann Christian Hellbach, a saddle maker (Sattler), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 45.

In 1789, Johann Heinrich Hellbach moved from Merkel to Galka.

In 1797, Johann Heinrich Hellbach and his family moved from Galka to Astrakhan.

The 1767 census records that Johann Christian Hellbach came from Copenhagen, Denmark.
