Bock (Schönchen)*

Peter Bock, a single laborer (Fabrikarbeiter), settled in the Volga German colony of Schönchen on 17 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 22.

The 1767 census records that Peter Bock came from the German village of Heimbach Weis [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this Bock family among the Volga German colonies.

South Africa

The first group of Volga German families to settle in South Africa arrived in Cape Town aboard the SS Godeffroy in February 1878. They came from the colonies of Fischer, Kaneau, and Streckerau. On 1 March 1878, another group arrived from the colony of Nieder-Monjou aboard the SS Saturnus. These families immigrated to South Africa in response to a recruitment initiative of the Cape Colony government to bring farmers to the region. The incentives included free passage and free land.

Elseser, Edgardo

The Rev. Edgardo Elseser, son of Eugenio Elseser & Marta Kamalosky, was born 26 June 1967 in Juan José Castelli, Chaco Province, Argentina.

He studied theology at the Concordia Seminary and was ordained in 1991. He served the parish of Villaguay (Entre Ríos, Prov.) from 1991 to 1999. Between 1999 and 2002, he was pastor of the parish of Paraná (Entre Ríos Prov.). Since 2011 he has served as pastor of the parish "San Lucas" of Banfield (Buenos Aires Metro).

Lesser, Adolph

Adolph Lesser was began his music career at the age of 16 playing with a band over KFKA Radio in Greeley, Colorado, at 6:30 every morning. He and his band travelled throughout Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, providing entertainment to his fellow servicemen.

Schäfer (Frank-3)*

Andreas Schäfer, son of Johannes Schäfer, and Anna Juliana Dietz, daughter of Conrad Dietz, were married in Queck on 18 November 1750.  The baptisms of three of their hildren are recorded in Queck: (1) Anna Catharina, baptized 28 August 1751; (2) Elisabeth, baptized 12 October 1753; and (3) Anna Elisabetha, born 22 December 1755, baptized 23 December 1755.
