Klaus (Schaffhausen)

Johann Klaus, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Johann Karl Klaus is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

In 1779, Karl Klaus and his children moved from Schaffhausen to Kaneau.

Kern (Biberstein / Schaffhausen)

Balthasar Kern, a cooper (Fassbinder), his wife Regina, and brother Philipp (age 21) are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits appended to the 1767 census of the Volga German colonies.

Widow Regina Kern, her daughter, and daughter's family are recorded on the 1798 census of Schaffhausen in Household No. Sh06.

Brother Philipp Kern and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Biberstein in Household No. Bb09.

The 1767 census records that Balthasar Kern came from the German village of Wohlau.

Korntheuer*

Johann Michael Korntheuer & Christina Wagner were married on 15 July 1766 in Pastor Schmidt's house in Lübeck.

Michael Korntheuer, a turner, and his wife Christina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Michael Korntheuer and his wife Christiana are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Jedike*

Widow Magdalena Jedike, her son Dietrich, and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Schaffhausen in Household No. Sh38.

The death of Dietrich Jedike in 1832 is recorded on the 1834 census of Schaffhausen in Household No. 69.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Hoffmann (Schaffhausen)

There are two Hoffmann families recorded from Schaffhausen. Their relationship to each other, if any, requires further research.

(1) Karl Hoffmann, a fur maker; his wife Eva; and children (Dorothea, age 4½; Regina, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Carl Hoffmann, his wife Eva Maria, and daughter Catharina (age 4¾) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Hill (Schaffhausen)

There are two Hill families from Schaffhausen. Their relationship to each other, if any, requires further research.

(1) Nicolaus Gill [sic] & Dorothea Elis. Albers were married on 4 August 1766 in St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Lübeck.

Nikolaus Gille [sic] and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 21 September 1766.

Nicolaus Gille [sic] and his wife Elisabeth are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
