Bester*

Joseph Bester, a barber (Friseur), and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 81 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Urbach in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Bester came from the German region of Mainz.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Berlatz*

Franziskus Berlatz, a physician (Arzt), and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 5 March 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 113.

The 1767 census records that Franziskus Berlatz came from the village of Liege.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Bemutz

Andreas Bemutz, a carpenter (Zimmermann), his wife Dorothea, and son Johann Konrad (age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 8 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Nieder-Monjou in 1768. They had settled in Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Bemutz came from the German region of Beyreuth.

Beck (Katharinenstadt)*

Sebastian Beck, a farmer, his wife Magdalena, and daughter Margaretha (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Johann Sebastian Beck, his wife Magdalena, and daughter Margaretha (age 7) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Orphan Anna Margaretha Beck (age 9) is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt following Household No. 230.

Bartel (Katharinenstadt)

Samuel Gottlieb Bartel, a weaver (Weber), and his wife Anna Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 17 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.

The 1767 census records that Samuel Gottlieb Bartel came from the German village of Liebau in Sachsen (Saxony).

Baden*

Orphan Anna Baden (age 14) settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 3 August 1767. She is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 230 along with a note that she is working as a day-laborer (Lohnarbeiter).

The 1767 census does not record from where Anna Baden came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Baden family among the Volga German colonies.

Bacherts*

Valentin Bacherts, a beer brewer (Bierbrauer), his wife Maria, and son Friedrich (age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 48. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Valentin Bacherts came from the German village of Suhl (Henneburg) in the Kurpfalz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Weiser

Johann Georg Weiser (age 4) is recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 66 along with his stepfather Heinrich Fischer.

The 1767 census does not record from where Johann Georg Weiser came.

Valsburg

Peter Valsburg, a farmer, his wife Maria, and son Johann (age 5) are recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 33. They had settled there on 17 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Peter Valsburg came from the German village of Hitzing [?].
