Vogel (Dobrinka-2)*

[Johann] Georg Vogel, a carpenter (Zimmermann), and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Joh. Georg Wogel [sic] and his wife Anna Sophia are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 158 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Dobrinka in 1768.

Versteeg*

Widower Wilhelm Versteeg is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 217 along with a note that he is working as a day-laborer (Lohnarbeiter). He has settled there on 5 March 1767.

The 1767 census records that Wilhelm Versteeg came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Utre*

Franz Utre (age 17) is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 147 along with his stepfather Melchior Müller.

The 1767 census records that Franz Utre came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Töwers*

Berns Töwers, a gardener (Gärtner), and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 86.

The 1767 census records that Berns Töwers came from the German village of Paderborn.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Thomas (Katharinenstadt)

Heinrich Thomas, an ore miner (Erzbergbauarbeiter), his wife Anna, and her children (Nikolaus Kohl, age 14; Herbert Kohl, age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 87. They had settled there on 27 August 1766

The 1767 census records that Heinrich Thomas came from the [Dutch] village of Amersfoort.

Degraf (Katharinenstadt)

Christoph Degraf, a physician (Arzt), and his wife Dorothea settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 3 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 121.

The 1767 census records that Christoph Degraf came from the German region of Sulzfeld.

Soquiette*

François Soquiette, a cook (Koch), and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 73.

The 1767 census records that François Soquiette came from the French town of Paris.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Soquiette family among the Volga German colonies.

Sielwerst*

Heinrich Sielwerst, a hatmaker (Hutmacher), and his wife Margaretha Wenlid settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 61.

The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records in Household No. 82:

Heinrich Sievers (age 31), a hatmaker (Hutmacher)
His wife: Margaretha Vennlied (age 35)
Daughters: Christiana (age 6); Anna Maria (age 2½)
Son: Johann (born 1778)

Schwertz (Katharinenstadt)

Peter Schwertz, a farmer, and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47.

In 1790, Peter Schwertz and his wife left Katharinenstadt.

The 1767 census records that Peter Schwertz came from the German village of Mitau in the Kurland region and that his wife Anna came from the German village of Mittelmark near Berlin.
