Hartmann (Walter)

Johann Matern [sic] Hartmann, son of Johann Conrad Hartmann and Anna Catharina Sauerwein, was born 29 June 1708. He married in Kleestadt on 13 February 1742 to Anna Catharina Holtzapffel, daughter of Johann Adam and Anna Barbara Holtzapffel. She had been born 6 October 1713 in Klein Umstadt.

Göbel (Walter)*

Johann Wilhelm Göbel, a cobbler, his wife Margaretha, and children (Anna, age 10¼; Friederika, age 9; Johann, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.

Johann Göbel, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Margaretha, and daughters (Maria, age 12½; Friederika, age 10½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Walter in Household No. 85. They had settled there on 25 August 1767.

Glintsel*

Karl Glintsel is recorded on the 1798 census of Walter in Household No. Wt035.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Gertner*

Johann Ernst Gertner is recorded on the 1798 census of Walter in Household No. Wt056.

His death in 1823 is recorded on the 1834 census in Household No. 153.

With his death, there were no surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Pohlmann

Wohlrat Pohlmann, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Katharina, and daughter Sophia (age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Walter in Household No. 84. They had settled there on 25 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Wohlrat Polhmann came from the German village of Mühlen Eichsen in the Mecklenberg region.

Schmidt (Messer-3)*

Jakob Schmidt, a single craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 25 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60 along with a note that he relocated to the Volga German colony of Messer in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Schmidt came from the German village of [Groß] Schoritz in Prussian Pomerania.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.

Schmall (Walter)*

Heinrich Schmall, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Johanna Jakobina settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 25 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4.

The 1767 census records that Heinrich Schmall came from the village of Kronstadt in Russia.
