Schneider (Mariental-2)*

Kaspar Schneider, a farmer, and his wife Dorothea settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60.

The 1767 census records that Kaspar Schneider came from the German region of Würzburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schneider family among the Volga German colonies.

Schmidt (Mariental-1)

Johannes Schmidt, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 9.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Schmidt came from the German region of Blieskastel.

Schermer (Mariental)*

Peter Schermer, a farmer, and his wife Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.

The 1767 census records that Peter Schermer came from the German village of Raude in the Kurmainz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schermer family among the Volga German colonies.

Schilling (Mariental)

Magnus Schilling, a single farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 37 along with his new bride Katharina who was from the region of Zweibrücken.

Scheuermann (Mariental)

Joseph Scheuermann, a soldier, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 15 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 84.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Scheuermann came from the German village of Dinkelsbühl in the district of Schaben (Swabia).

Scheibele

Konrad Scheibele, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 70.

Son Jakob is recorded on the 1798 census with the surname Schäuffel which is thought to be incorrect.

The 1767 census records that Konrad Scheibele came from the German village of Ulm in Schwaben (Swabia).

Scheffin (Mariental)

Jakob Scheffin (age 15) and his sister Margaretha (age 8) settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental.  Their widowed mother had remarried to Heinrich Ulrich Telf and they are all recorded on the 1767 census of Mariental in Household No. 20.

Some translations use Schäfer for this surname.

Sander (Chasselois)

Michael Sander, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and son Georg (age 13) settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 35.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Sander family relocated to the colony of Mariental.

The 1767 census records that Michael Sander came from the German village of Bitche in France.
