Uhrich / Urich / Urig (Frank & Schwab)

Two Uhrich families from Groß-Umstadt immigrated to Russia. There relationship to each other, if any, needs additional research.

(1) Johann Bernhard Urig, son of Bernhardt Urig & Anna Margaretha Weber, was born 26 January 1748 in Groß-Umstadt.

He arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named St. Johannes (Saint John) under the command of Skipper Carstens Stahl along with his sister Maria Katharina and her husband Konrad Grass. [See Grass Family.]

Johann Conrad Grass, his wife Cathrina, and brother-in-law Bernhard Uhlrich [sic] (age 18) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Bernhard Urich settled in Frank on 1 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 117.

Bernhard Uhrig and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Frank in Household No. Fk055.

The death of Bernhard Uhrich in 1807 is recorded on the 1811 census of Frank in Household No. 55.

(2) Johann Friedrich Uhrich, a son of Johannes Uhrich & Anna Justina Weber, was born on 12 February 1736, and baptized on 14 February 1736 in the Evangelical Reformed church in Groß-Umstadt. Johann Friedrich married to Anna Barbara (surname unknown), and they immigrated to Russia, along with his mother Anna Justina.

Friedrich Uhrich, a farmer, his wife Anna, and mother Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.

Johann Friedrich Uhrich (age 32), a weaver (Weber), and his wife Anna Barbara (age 28) are recorded on the 1767 census of Schwab in Household No. 33 along with widow Anna Katharina Will (age 55). The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Eurich and Will families. They had arrived in Schwab on 12 September 1767. [See Will Family.]

Anna Barbara Uhrich, widow of Friedrich Uhrich, their children (Johann Heinrich, age 28; Adam, age 23; David, age 13; Maria Margaretha, age 17) are recorded on the 1798 census of Schwab in Household No. Sb36 along with a note that son Adam is working in the neighboring colony of Galka.

(1) Heinrich Uhrich and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 41.

The death of Heinrich Uhrich in 1850 is recorded on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 66.

Wilhelm, Johann Peter, & Johann Adam Uhrich, sons of Heinrich Uhrich, and their families are recorded on the 1857 census of Schwab in Households No. 66 & 67 & 76 along with a note that they relocated to the daughter colony of Erlenbach in 1852.

(2) Johann Adam Uhrich and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 55.

The death of Johann Adam Uhrich in 1852 is recorded on the 1857 census of Schwab in Household No. 91.

(3) Johann David Uhrlich and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 76.

The death of Johann David Uhrlich in 1836 is recorded on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 115.

The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Uhrich came from the German village of Raibach.

There is another Uhrich family in Schwab by 1798. Their relationship, if any, to the above recorded Uhrich family requires further research.

Johannes Uhrich and his family [including sons Johann Konrad, age 28; Johannes, age 15] are recorded on the 1798 census of Schwab in Household No. Sb20.

Johannes Uhrich, son of Johann Konrad Uhrich, is recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 68.

Johannes Uhrich, son of Johannes Uhrich, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 18.

The death of Johannes Uhrich in 1845 is recorded on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 26.

Johann Gottfried Uhrich from Schwab and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Friedenberg.
