Karl Katzendorn, a tailor (Schneider), his [new] wife Eva, and stepchildren (Johannes Stock, age 16; Eva, age 13) are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits (Household No. 123) appended to the 1767 census of the Volga German colonies.

Widower Karl Katzendorn and his children are recorded on the 1798 census of Wittmann in Household No. Wm48 along with a note that his son Johannes is working in the colony of Zug and son Mattias is working in the colony of Orlovskaya.

Brothers Leonhard, Andreas, and Johannes Katzendorn, believed to be sons of Mattias Katzendorn, are recorded on the 1834 census of Wittmann in Households No. 81 & 97.

The 1767 census records that Karl Katzendorn came from the German village of Basenstein [Bassenheim?].
