Rothermel (Anton)

Johann Georg Rothermel, son of Peter & Anna Catharina Rothermel, was born in Hammelbach (northeast of Weinheim) on 23 September 1713 and baptized on 28 September 1713 in nearby Wald-Michelbach. He married on 13 February 1741 in Wald-Michelbach to Eva Margaretha Erhard. She had been born 14 October 1714 in Lichtenklingen.

Roth (Unknown-1)*

Andreas Roth, son of the late Joh. Jost Roth from Eichenhayn, & Anna Catharina Dechert, daughter of Joh. Georg Dechert from Engelroth, were married 18 August 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Schlitz.

He and his wife Catharina arrived in the Volga German colony of Boisroux on 17 August 1767. They are recorded there on a supplement to the 1767 census of Boisroux in Household No. 36 with a note that they intended to relocate to another colony in 1768.

At that point, their whereabouts become unknown because they have not been located on the 1798 Census.

Romig

Johann Valentin Romig, son of Johann Philipp Romig and Margaretha Zimmermann, was born 20 December 1718 in Habitzheim, Hessen-Darmstadt, and died after 1775 in Russia. He married 5 November 1740 in Spachbrücken, Kr. Dieburg, Hessen-Darmstadt to Maria Sophia Maÿ, daughter of Johann Nicolaus Maÿ and Anna Maria Göckel. She was born 7 July 1718 in Spachbrücken, was baptized there on 10 July 1718.

Romeis (Norka)*

Johannes Romeis first appears in the Volga German colonies on the 1834 Census of Norka. Igor Plehve reports that he was born in February 1794 in the Moravian colony of Neuwied in what is today the State of Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany. He was first married to Christina (surname unknown) and had four daughters. He married for the second time to Nathalie Früauf on 17 November 1854, and died shortly thereafter in Norka on 20 February 1855.

He has no known male descendants, so this surname does not continue among the Volga Germans.

Roh (Schilling)

Johann Carl Roh(e), son of Hanß Jerg Rohe, was baptized on 26 December 1722 in the German village of Döffingen. He & Agnes Maria Sommer, daughter of Hanß Bernhard Sommer, were married in Kleingartach on 25 April 1747. [Agnes Maria had been born 15 February 1726 in nearby Zaberfeld.]

Römer (Krasnoyar)

Heinrich Römer was born on 31 October 1713 in Ettingshausen, just east of Giessen. He was baptized there on 3 November 1713 and married there on 3 June 1738 to Anna Christina Weil. They had the following children, all of whom were born in Ettingshausen: (1) Johannes, born May 1739 & died 2 September 1744 of diptheria; (2) Michael, born 31 July 1742; (3) Andreas, b 8 September 1745; (4) Johann Jacob, born 16 November 1748; (5) Anna Elisabetha, born 28 February 1751; and (6) Johann Conrad, born 22 October 1752.

Rosskopf

There is a Joseph Peter Raaskopff, son of Mattias & Angela Raaskopff, who was baptized on 22 July 1715 in Wittlich, northeast of Trier, in what is today Rheinland-Pfalz. A Peter Rosskopf immigrated to Russia, arriving in the colony of Volmer on 18 July 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 41.

In 1792, Joseph Roskopf and his family moved from Volmer to Preuss.

Burghard Roskopf and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Volmer in Household No. 11 along with a note that they moved from Volmer to Marienfeld in 1852.

Röder (Beideck)

Johann Georg Röder, son of Johann Philipp & Anna Maria Röder, was born on 18 October 1722 in Groß-Bieberau, about 15 kilometers southeast of Darmstadt. He married Anna Margaretha Dorsam. The births of the following children to Johann Georg Röder and Anna Margaretha Dorsam are recorded in the parish register of Groß-Bieberau: (1) Elisabetha Catharina, born 17 March 1750; (2) Elisabetha Margaretha, born 7 January 1755; (3) Anna Catharina, born 12 September 1757; and (4) Johann Adam, on 26 May 1759.

Robertus

The births of two sons to Hans Georg & Anna Rupertus is recorded in the parish register of Schriesheim: (1) Johann Stephan, born 27 January 1740; and (2) Johann Georg, born 13 December 1742.

Father Hans Georg Rupertus died 14 January 1752, and his widow remarried on 8 May 1753 to Leonhard Eisenhauer. Anna died in Schriesheim on 10 November 1767.

Johann Stephan Rupertus and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), arriving in Fredericia on 2 November 1759. Johann Georg followed, arriving in Fredericia on 1 May 1760.

Ritter (Balzer)*

Johann Conrad Ritter, son of Jacob & Maria Magdalena Ritter, was baptized on 9 November 1717 in Ladenburg. He married there on 30 July 1754 to Elisabeth Zeissel. She was born in 1719 and died on 1 March 1758 in Ladenburg. He remarried in Ladenburg on 27 June 1758 to Margaretha Kriegbaum, daughter of Adam & Anna Catharina Kriegbaum. She had been born in Elmshausen on 17 May 1727.

The baptism of one daughter to Johann Conrad Ritter & Margaretha Kriegbaum has been located in the parish register of Ladenburg: Eva Elisabeth, baptized 20 June 1756.
