Ries (Dinkel)

Christoph Ries (born in 1731) and his wife Anna Guntin (born in 1733) lived in the village of Wössingen.

They and their son Urban (born in 1749) immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) and settled in the colony of Neuduvenstedt.

The marriage of Johann Urban Ries, son of Christoph Ries & Anna Gunther, to Christina Diesler, daughter of Jacob & Susanna Diesler, is recorded in Bünsdorf on 27 June 1765. Christina died in 1766.

Richter (Orlovskaya)*

Dr. Hermann Wäschke records that Hans George Richter, a tenant (Mietsmann), with his wife, and two children (one son & one daughter), from Mosigkau in the district of [Anhalt]-Dessau, immigrated to Russia.

Georg Richter, a farmer, his wife Sophia, and children (Henrietta, age 15½; Gottlieb, age 3) are recorded on the 1767 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. 51. They had arrived in Orlovskaya on 7 June 1767.

Maria Richter, daughter of the deceased Gottlieb Richter, is recorded on the 1798 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. Or13.

Reuter (Kautz)

The births/baptisms of two sons of Johann Nicolaus Reuter & Susanna Elisabetha Engelmann are recorded in the parish register of Gemünden: (1) Johann Christoph Reuter, born 10 February 1740, baptized 11 February 1740; and (2) Christian, baptized 30 March 1742.

Reiss / Reuss (Balzer)

Johannes Reuss from Lorbach near Büdingen married in Vonhausen on 30 July 1761 to Anna Elisabeth Scheidt, the daughter of Johann Scheidt.

Johann Reuss, a farmer, his wife [Anna] Elisabeth, and their daughter Albertina (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. They were travelling with Elisabeth's father, widower Johann Scheidt.

Rettig

Johann Dieter Rettig, son of Johannes Rettig & Margaretha Röder, was born 21 January 1704 in Gronau. He married in Gronau on 13 February 1725 to Catharina Elisabetha Metzger, daughter of Nicolaus Metzger & Catharina Metzger.She had been born 2 April 1703 in Gronau.

Reitz (Bangert)

Johann Reitz was baptized in Hasselborn, Nassau-Usingen. This was a family of shephards that traveled from one village to another in the Nassau-Usingen area.

Johann Reitz, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 13; Anna, age 10; Kasimir, age 6; Johann [again], age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Der Junge Mattias under the command of Skipper Johann Gottfried Selander.

Rein (Dietel)

Johann Jacob Rein, son of Johann Jacob & Anna Catharina Rein, was born 6 May 1706 in Mettenheim. He married there on 2 March 1734 to his first wife Anna Catharina Lucius, daughter of Christian Friedrich Lucius. She died there on 5 October 1748 in childbirth. He then married in Mettenheim on 23 January 1749 to Anna Elisabeth Weinbach, daughter of Johannes & Catharina Gertraud Weinbach.

Among their children, the following sons were born there: Johann Jacob (born 13 August 1750) and Johann Melchior (born 16 February 1752).

Reiter (Frank)

Andreas Reiter was born on 23 December 1736 in Gersfeld, then part of the Free Noble Province of Ancient Knights. He was the son of Johann Michael Reiter from Hildburghausen and Katharina Weibrecht form Gersfeld. Andreas was a journeyman dyer. Andreas and his wife, Anna Maria Reinick, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the comand of skipper Reders.  They settled in the Volga German colony of Frank on 1 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 115.

Reis (Ernestinendorf)

Johann Caspar Reiß married 8 August 1741 in Queckborn to Anna Maria Schneider, daughter of Conrad Schneider. [Johann Caspar Reiß died in Queckborn on 1 February 1760.]

Entries concerning four children born to Johann Caspar Reiß & Anna Maria Schneider have been located in the parish register of Queckborn: (1) Johannes, baptized 24 June 1742; (2) Sophia, born 1 May 1745, baptized 6 May 1745; (3) Johann, died 8 August 1756 [age: 5y8m8d], buried 10 August 1756; and (4) Johann Ludwig, born 3 August 1754, baptized 4 August 1754.

Reineke (Frank)

There are 3 Reinicke families affiliated with the Volga German colony of Frank. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Anna Maria Reinick [sic], daughter of Johannes Reinick & Margaretha Guttmann, was born 23 November 1739 in Gersfeld. She married there on 14 June 1766 to Andreas Reiter who was also from Gersfeld.

(2) Joachim Reineke & Elisabeth Ratkens were married 31 July 1766 in a house in Lübeck.
