Sauer (Sewald)

Johannes Sauer, son of Hans Georg & Anna Margaretha Sauer, was born on 6 April 1742, and baptized on 8 April 1742 in the Lutheran Church in Hofheim, about 5 kilometers northeast of Worms. He married Anna Barbara (surname unknown).

Johann[es] Sauer, a farmer, and his wife Anna Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig Mercurius under the command of Skipper Christian Heinrich Abelßen.

Sack (Huck)

Georg Eberhard Sack, son of Christofel Sack & Catharina Rinn, was born 25 March 1747 in the village of Heuchelheim, today a western suburb of Giessen.

Eberhard Sack, a single stonemason, arrived from Lübeck in Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

Schäfer (Frank-1)

Johannes Schäfer was born 31 August 1740 in Höchst. In 1766, he left for Russia. In Büdingen, one of the immigrant gathering places, he married on 28 April 1766 to Elisabeth Höck of Rimhorn, the daughter of master baker Johann Nikolaus Höck.

Johann Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Maria [sic] Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 11 August 1766 aboard the Russian galliot named Citadel under the command of Midshipman Gregory Bukharin.

Saalfeld (Schilling)

The following children were born to Johann Karl Saalfeld (died 10 December 1763) & Maria Christina Vogt (21 October 1702 - 25 February 1743) in Gießen: (1) Peter Daniel, born 6 november 1722, died 10 November 1722; (2) Maria Elisabeth, born 11 September 1725; (3) Johann Philipp, born 28 April 1732; (4) Christine Elisabeth, born 26 September 1733, died 1 May 1809 [in Gießen]; (5) Karl Philipp Gerhard, born 17 December 1736; (6) Anna Elisasbeth Charlotte, born 16 December 1737; and (7) Karl Gottfried Conrad, born 5 July 1742.

Rutt (Balzer)

Conrad & Anna Cornelia Ruth [sic] had the following child whose baptism is recorded in the parish register of Calbach: Carl Friedrich Maximillian, baptized 26 February 1733.

Conrad & Anna Margaretha Ruth [sic] had the following child whose baptism is recorded in the parish register of Calbach: Julianna, baptized 18 September 1740.

(1) Julianna Rutt married in Düdelsheim on 11 March 1766 to Andreas Kling, son of Philipp & Anna Barbara Kling. He had been born 31 May 1744 in Düdelsheim. [See Kling Family.]

Ruppel (Schwab)*

Franz Heinrich Ruppel, Joh. Christoph Ruppel (senior) & Anna Gertraud Vogel, was born 24 December 1743 in Fränkisch-Crumbach.

Franz Ruppel, a farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.

In the parish records of Fränkisch-Crumbach, Franz Heinrich Ruppel, single man, is included in a list of immigrants.

Rutz (Dönhof-1)

Breitenweisen, Reichenbach, Lautertal & Schönberg are four small villages in the region of Starkenburg, in southern Hesse, about 40 kilometers south of Darmstadt city.

Johann Matthias Rutz, son of Hans Georg & Elisabetha Barbara Rutz, was born 8 February 1726 in Breitenweisen, and baptized on 10 February 1726 in the Reichenbach Evangelical Church. He married Anna Catharina Massal, daughter of Christian Massal & Maria Eva Hoffmann, on 9 April 1750 in Reichenbach. Anna Catharina had been born 15 March 1728, and baptized on 17 March 1728 in Reichenbach.

Reil

Johannes Heinrich Reuel [sic] died in Gelnhausen. He had been married to Johanna Margaretha Buss, daughter of Wilhelm Buss. She had been born in 1711 in Gelnhausen. They have the following children, each born in Gelnhausen: (1) Anna Maria, born 10 May 1730; (2) Johanna Margaretha, born 12 February 1733; (3) Johann Peter, born 29 September 1735; (4) Johann Wilhelm, born 19 May 1743; (5) Konrad Heinrich, born 31 May 1745; (6) Adam Wilhelm, born 23 Mary 1749; and (7) Maria Frederike, born 17 July 1754.

Rübsamen

Elias Rübsamen was born about 1742 in Grünberg, 20 kilometers east of Giessen, in Hessen. He married Anna Elisabetha Humbert, also from Grünberg, on 7 April 1766 in Büdingen, Hesse, on their way to Russia.

They departed from the port of Lübeck along with his sister Anna, by the ship Die Fortuna with the skipper Peter Stahl, arriving in Oranienbaum, Russia, on 4 July 1766.

Elias and his wife settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Karaman on 10 June 1767 and are are recorded there on the 1767 Census living in Household No. 25.

Rudolph (Straub)

Johannes Rudolph, son of Johann & Anna Barbara Rudolph, was born on 8 February 1720 and baptized on 9 February 1720 in the Evangelical (Lutheran) Church in Langstadt, located between Darmstadt and Hanau. He married Johanna (Anna) Christina Spiel on 11 Jan 1746 in Langstadt.

They had six children, each baptized in Langstadt: (1) Anna Margaretha, born on 10 November 1746; (2) Ottilia, born on 26 December 1748; (3) Andreas, born on 27 February 1751; (4) Johann Heinrich, born on 10 May 1752; (5) Anna Maria, born on 24 January 1755; and (6) Michael, born on 17 August 1761.
