Gregorius*

Johann Grigorisch [sic], a single cobbler, arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

He is believed to have settled in Hussenbach as there are several other families aboard this ship that settled in Hussenbach.

[There is a Johann Grigoritsch who settled in the Volga German colony of Husaren on 17 February 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25. This may be the same person recorded later in Hussenbach.]

Ernst (Messer)

Joh. Georg Ernst and his wife Lucia [sic] Barbara are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Georg Ernst, a craftsman (Handwerker), and is wife Louisa [sic] Barbara settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 14 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 85.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Ernst came from the German district of Hannover.

Ernst (Brabander)

Michael Ernst, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Dominikus, age 16; Magdalena, age 12; Mattias, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard the galliot Der Jan under the command of Skipper Markus Dragun.

Johann Michael Ernst, his wife Maria, and children (Domenicus, age 16; Maria, age 12; Mathias, age 8) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

In 1796, Joseph Ernst moved from Brabander to Dehler.

Erlenbach (Mariental)*

Johann Erlenbach, his wife Anna Elisabeth, son (Johann Nikolaus Joseph, age 1½), and stepson (Johann Jakob, age 3½) [surname not recorded] are recorded on the 1767 census of Mariental in Household No. 5. They had arrived in Mariental on 16 June 1766.

Son Johannes Erlenbach died in Rohleder on 31 January 1797 at the age of 33.

The 1767 census records that Johann Erlenbach came from the German village of Ladenburg in the Kurpfalz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Erlenbach family among the Volga German colonies.

Erdmann (Hussenbach)

Daniel Erdmann, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach and are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs046.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Daniel Erdmann came from the German region of Dresden.

Dietel / Tittel

Johann Christian Dietel was born 7 March 1702 in Bautzen and died there on 27 August 1857. He married Dorothea Heinik. She had been born in 1697 in Bautzen and died there on 9 April 1758.

David (Dietel)

Christian David, a single stonemason, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat named Saratov under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.

In 1788, Christian Dietel moved from Dietel to Hussenbach.

Christian David and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Dietel in Household No. Dt53.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian David came from the region of Berlin.

Barbie (Ober-Monjou)

Anton Barbier, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Anton Barbier is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

He arrived in the Volga German colony of Beauregard on 3 August 1767 and is recorded there on an appendix to the 1767 Beauregard census in Household No. 85 with a note that he moved to the colony of Ober-Monjou in 1768.
