Schäfer (Hussenbach)

Johann Weigand Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Anna Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach. Weigand is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs062.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Weigand Schäfer came from the German region of Darmstadt.

Sauer (Hussenbach)*

Johann Georg Sauer, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and children (Anna Maria, age 17½; Johann, age 13; Stephan, age 8½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach. Son Stephan Sauer is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs082.

Rommel

On 14 September 1728 in Burghaun, Johann Valentin Rommel, son of Johann Reinhardt Rommel, married Anna Maria Ebert, daughter of Reinhardt Ebert. They had the following children, each baptized in Burghaun: (1) Caspar, baptized 21 June 1729, died 10 March 1730; (2) Johannes, born 9 January 1731 & baptized 11 January 1731; (3) Anna Margaretha, baptized 11 April 1733; and (4) Anna Maria, baptized 5 May 1736. Anna Maria Ebert Rommel died on 28 September 1744.

Propp

Michael Propp, a single farmer, arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach and is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs011.

Heinrich Propp from Hussenbach is recorded on the 1834 census of Kolb in Household No. 57.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Propp came from Poland.

Pawlowski*

Jakob Pawlowski, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Christian, age 10; Gottlieb, age 4) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach and are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs127.

The death of Jakob Pawlowski in 1810 is recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 127.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Pawlowski came from the German region of Schöningen.

Paul (Hussenbach-2)

Johann Paul, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach and are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs040.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Paul came from the German region of Kesten.

Mehling (Hussenbach)

Andreas Mühling, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann Christian, age 7; Martin, age 3; Anna, age 1) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach and are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs043.

Johannes Mehling and his sons are recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 35.

Andreas Mehling and his male descendants are recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 43.

Litke (Hussenbach)*

Jakob Litke, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughter Maria [age not recorded] arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.

They settled in the colony of Hussenbach and are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs036.

The death in 1806 of Jakob Litke is recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 36. There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Lais / Leis (Hussenbach)

Johann Nicolaus Leiß, son of Johann Jost Leys (22 April 1693-6 July 1759) & Eva Maria Waither (10 September 1695-June 1759), was born 14 March 1721 in Lißberg.

Johann Nicolaus Leiß, citizen and tailor (Schneider) in Lißberg, married Anna Margaretha Liebegott, daughter of Johann Philipp Liebegott of Effolderbach.
