Helwig (Norka)*

Melchior Helwig, a farmer, his wife Eva Margaretha, and children (Peter, age 20; Friedrich Adolph, age 15; Johannes, age 10; Katharina, age 3) are recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 44. They had arrived in Norka on 15 August 1767.

Daughter Anna Katharina Müller née Helwig and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Norka in Household No. Nr095.

The 1767 census records that Melchior Helwig came from the German district of Isenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Helwig family among the Volga German colonies.

Hegwald

The births in Wiedermus of five children born to Johann Georg & Viktoria Hegwald are recorded in the parish register of Eckartshausen: (1) Johann Friedrich, born 8 August 1751; (2) Anna Margaretha, born 6 August, 1754; (3) Johannes, born 20 June 1757; (4) Wilhelmina, born 1 June 1760; and (5) Gabriel, born 14 April 1763.

Hammer (Norka)

Johannes Hammer, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census records that Johannes Hammer came from the German district of Hessen.

Haas (Norka)

Johann Jacob & Catharina Elisabetha Haas had three children: (1) Anna Eva, confirmed in 1766 in Rinderbügen; (2) Anna Elisabetha, born 16 October 1758, baptized 22 October 1758 Rinderbügen; and (3) Johann Conrad, born 7 May 1762, baptized 9 May 1762Rinderbügen.Catharina Elisabetha's mother Catharina accompanied the family to Russia. 

Guttperl*

Nikolaus Heinrich Guttperl [sic], a weaver (Weber), and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Widower Nikolaus Guttperl settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 153.

Griess (Norka)

Widow Susanna Greis [sic] and her children (Johann Jakob, age 18; Maria Katharina, age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard the Russian pink Vologda under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Bartenyev.

Widow Susanna Elisabeth Gries and her children (Johann Jakob, age 19; Maria Katharina, age 18) are recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 33. They had settled there on 15 August 1767.

Susanna along with her son Jakob and his family are recorded on the 1775 census of Norka in Household No. 205.

Grell*

Georg Grell, a farmer, and his wife Anna Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 139.

The 1767 census records that Georg Grell came from the German district of Hessen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Goury

Konrad Goury, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aobard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 134 along with his new wife Susanna Margaretha.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Goury is a weaver while the 1767 census records that he is a craftsman (Handwerker).

Glass (Norka)

Georg Wilhelm Glass and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 69. 

The Oranienbaum passenger list records Georg Wilhelm Glass as a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a craftsman (Handwerker).

Both documents record that Georg Wilhelm Glass came from the German village of Hagenburg near Frankfurt am Main.

Giebelhaus

Johannes Giebelhaus and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the pink Lev under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 109.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johannes Giebelhaus was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he is a craftsman (Handwerker).
