Schütz (Messer)

Johannes Schütz and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms78.

The death of Johannes Schütz in 1820 is recorded on the 1834 census of Messer in Household No. 145.

Götz (Müller)

In 1790, Georg Götz and his family moved from Müller to Stephan.

Johann Georg Götz from Müller and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Stephan in Household No. Sp33.

Georg Christoph Götze [sic] from Stephan and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Friedenberg.

Zeller

There are two Zeller families that settled in the Volga German colony of Messer. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Widow Anna Maria Zeller and her son Johannes (age 16) are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer along with her son-in-law Friedrich Meininger. They had settled there on 18 June 1767. The 1767 census does not record from where Anna Maria Zeller came.

In 1790, Johannes Zeller moved from Messer to Dietel.

Wolf (Messer)

In 1790, widow Anna Margaretha Wolf and her children moved from Messer to Franzosen.

The widow and children of Konrad Wolf from Messer are recorded on the 1798 census of Franzosen in Households No. Fz12 and Fz17.

Peter Wolf and his descendants are recorded on the 1834 census of Franzosen in Households No. 25 & 38.

Johann Heinrich Wolf from Franzosen and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Ährenfeld.

Schneider (Messer-2)

Casper Schneider married in Hüttengesäß on 3 March 1738 to Anna Dorothea Burbach, daughter of Conrad & Catharina Burbach [See Burbach Family]. Anna Dorothea Burbach had been baptized on 12 March 1719 in Hüttengesäß.

The baptisms of the following children born to Casper Schneider & Dorothea Burbach are recorded in the parish register of Hüttengesäß: (1) Elisabetha, baptized 29 November 1741; and (2) Anna Barbara, baptized 9 July 1744.

Schmidt (Messer-7)*

Orphan Anna Margaretha Schmidt (age 14), daughter of the deceased Christoph Schmidt, is recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 79.

The 1767 census records that Anna Margaretha Schmidt came from the German region of Isenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.

Schmidt (Messer-6)

Peter Schmidt (age 1½) is recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 61 along with his stepfather Andreas Klapp. They had settled there on 18 June 1767.

Peter Schmidt, son of the deceased Peter Schmidt, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms09 along with his stepfather Andreas Klapp.

The 1767 census does not record from where Peter Schmidt came.

Schmidt (Messer-9)

Heinrich Schmidt, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Margaretha Katharina, and son Martin (age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 8. They had settled there on 7 July 1766.

Martin Schmidt from Messer and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Franzosen in Household No. Fz26.

The 1767 census records that Heinrich Schmidt came from the German region of Kurpfalz.
