Ritter (Messer)*

Orphan Anna Margaretha Ritter, daughter of the deceased Philipp Ritter, is recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 80. She had settled there on 18 June 1767.

The 1767 census records that Anna Margaretha Ritter came from the German region of Isenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Ritter family among the Volga German colonies.

Riesch (Messer)

Friedrich Riesch and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms87.

In 1798, Christoph Riesch, presumedly the son of Friedrich Riesch, left Messer.

He is recorded on the 1798 census of Balzer in Household No. Bz111.

Werth (Messer)

In 1790, Johannes Werth moved from Messer to Degott.

Jakob Werth and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms38.

Laufer

Nicolaus Lauffer, a tailor (Schneider), was born 1 October 1692 in Crainfeld and died 31 July 1759 in Hersfeld. He married on 18 February 1717 in Hersfeld to Anna Kunigunda Möller. She died 27 October 1752 in Hersfeld.

One child of Nicolaus & Anna Kunigunda is Johann Georg Lauffer, a master tailor (Schneidermeister), who was born 19 February 1720. He married on 2 April 1744 in Hersfeld to Martha Elisabeth Weygel.

One child of Johann Georg & Martha Elisabeth Lauffer is Nicolaus who was born 15 January 1755 in Hersfeld.

Keiderling

Regina Keiderling, widow of Johannes Keiderling, and their son Heinrich Jakob (age 17) are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms85.

Heinrich Jakob Keiderling and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Messer in Household No. 184.

Heinrich Franz Keiderling, son of Heinrich Jakob Keiderling, and his son Johann Franz (age 10) are recorded on the 1857 census of Messer in Household No. 185.

Ebel (Messer)

Heinrich Ebel from Messer, his wife, and daughters (Johanna Elisabeth, age 3; Johanna Anna Margaretha, age 1; Johanna Susanna, age ¼) are recorded on the 1798 census of Degott in Household No. Dg01.

Kagel (Laub)*

Georg Heinrich Kagel, his wife Anna Dorothea, and daughter Elisabeth Margaretha (age 3) settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767.

Georg Heinrich Kagel died there on 24 September 1767. His widow and daughter are recorded on the 1767 census of Laub in Household No. 59 along with orphan Johann Bernhardt (age 18) and a note that they relocated to the colony of Straub in 1768. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Kagel and Bernhardt families.

The 1767 census records that Anan Dorothea Kagel came from the German village of Birkenfeld.

Zubicks

Johann[es] Zubicks, a farmer, and his unnamed wife settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767. She died 27 September 1767, and he is recorded as a widower on the 1767 census of Laub in Household No. 62.

Johannes Zubicks and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Laub in Household No. Lb35.

Johannes Zubicks, son of Johannes Zubicks, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Laub in Household No. 89 along with a note (in Household No. 106) that he died there in 1824.
