Ries (Zug)

Widow Magdalena Ries and her children (Johann Georg, age 18; Katharina, age 9; Dorothea, age 6; Johann Peter, age 5; Johann Adam, age 2) are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg32.

Peter Ries and his brother Adam are recorded on the 1834 census of Zug in Household No. 96.

Peter Ries (whose death is recorded in 1833) and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Louis in Household No. 118 along with a note that they had arrived in Louis from Zug in 1819.

[A translation of the 1798 census erroneously records this surname as Ross.]

Schneider (Zug)

There are three Schneider families in Zug. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Jakob Schneider and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg07.

(2) Jakob Schneider and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg10.

(3) The sons of Christoph Schneider are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg12.

Strauss (Zug)

Leopold Strauss, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and daughter Anna (age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Leopold Strauss, his wife Margaretha, and daughter Anna (age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Anna died en route.

Fran(t)z (Zürich)

Johann Franz, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Franz Nikolaus Schröder.

Johann Frantz is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Göbel (Zürich)

There are 2 Göbel families recorded in Zürich. Because of their ages, they are believed to be father and son, but further research is needed for confirmation.

(1) Heinrich Göbel (age 56) and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Household No. Zr03.

(2) Balthasar Göbel (age 25) and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Household No. Zr45.

Grebe (Zürich)

Johann Hermann Grebe, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and sons (Kaspar, age 18; Melchior, age 15) is recorded on the 1767 census of Philippsfeld in Household No. 31 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Zürich in 1768. [The movement tables that accompany the 1798 census record that Johann Herrmann [Grebe] relocated from Philippsfeld to Zürich in 1769.]

Kaspar Grebe and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Household No. Zr45.

Melchior Grebe and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Household No. Zr35.
