Grießling

[Johann] Georg Grießling, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughters (Katharina, age 15; Barbara, age 11; Elisabeth, age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier. They are recorded there on the Oranienbaum passenger list next to Heinrich Grießling, a farmer, and his wife Maria. Heinrich is presumed to be the son of Johann Georg.

Griesbach*

There are a several documents that record Griesbach families. Further research is necessary to determine whether the documents refer to one or more families.

Franz [sic] Griesbach, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Frantz Grissbach [sic] and his wife Anna Maria are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Rost (Luzern)

There are two Rost families who arrived in Lübeck together in 1766 and travelled from Oranienbaum to Saratov together in 1767. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Georg Rost, a farmer, and his wife Sophia arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Georg Rost and his wife Sophia are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Hegelein

Joh. Michel Hegelein and Cunigunda Jäger were married 26 May 1766 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lübeck.

Michael Hegelein, a farmer, his wife Kunigunde, and daughter Maria (age 3-month) are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits appended to the 1767 census.

Michael Hegelein and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz07.

The 1767 census records that Michael Hegelein came from the German village of Medewitz.

Hertinger

Valentin Hertinger and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz37.

Leonhard Hertinger and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz40 along with a note that his son Jakob is living in Beauregard with relatives.

[The 1798 census erroneously records this family with the surname of Gartner / Hartner.]

Degener*

Georg Degener, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and [step-]son Konrad [Siebert] (age 13) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Johann Georg Degener, his wife Cathrina, and [step-]son Conrad [Siebert] are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Cathrina died en route.

Wilhelm (Louis)

In 1788, Martin Wilhelm and his family moved from Louis to Graf.

Martin Wilhelm and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Graf in Household No. Gf24.

The death of Martin Wilhelm in 1829 is recorded on the 1834 census of Graf in Household No. 31.
