Beltz (Warenburg)*

Kaspar Beltz, a farmer, his wife Eleonora, and children (Johann, age 14; Philipp Heinrich, age 11; Georg Philipp, age 9; Elisabeth Katharina, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard the ship named Die Neue Fortuna under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.

Bettingheimer

Franz Bettingheimer, a miller (Müller), and his wife Maria are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that is appended to the 1767 census along with a note that they settled in the Volga German colony of Zug in 1768.

Their descendants are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Zg37 along with a note that Johannes Bettingheimer is working in the colony of Luzern.

The 1767 census records that Franz Bettingheimer came from the German village of Berling [Berlingen?] in the Mainz region.

Glaser (Zug)*

Georg Adam Glaser and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 September 1766.

Georg Adam Glaser and his wife Katharina are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Georg Adam Glaser, his wife Katharina Paul (widow of Heinrich Marx), and his stepson Jakob Marx are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg16.

Heiligmeier*

Joseph Heiligmar, a farmer, his wife Barbara, and children (Eva, age 18; Stephan, age 13; Johann, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Joh. Heiligmar, his wife Barbara, and sons (Stephan, age 13; Georg, age 8) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with Maria Eva Heiligmar who is recorded separately.

Karl (Zug)

Franz Karl, a cloth weaver (Tuchweber), and his wife Maria are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou.

Franz Karl and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. 20.

The 1767 census records that Frank Karl came from the German region of Den Brand.

Meier (Zug)

There are 4 Meier families in Zug . Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Vincent Meier (age 15) is recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg06.

(2) Johannes Meier and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg12.

(3) In 1796, widower Johannes Maier moved from Zug to Luzern.

Johann Meier from Zug and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz06.

Merks*

Heinrich Mercks, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Barbara, age 14; Johann, age 11; Johannes, age 5; Heinrich, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Heinrich Mercks [sic], his wife Anna Maria, and chidlren (Barbara, age 14; Johannes, age 11; Johannes [again], age 5) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that the mother Anna Maria died en route.
