Kohl (Katharinenstadt-4)

Nikolaus Kohl (age 14) and his brother Herbert (age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 87 along with their mother Anna and stepfather Heinrich Thomas.

Nikolaus Kohl is recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka017. Hubert [sic] Kohl is recorded onthe 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka110.

The 1767 census does not record from where this Kohl family came.

Kohl (Katharinenstadt-3)

Jakob Kohl, a farmer, his wife Edith, and daughter Katharina Elisabeth (age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 21. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Kohl came from the German village of Basel in Switzerland.

Lange (Katharinenstadt)

Heinrich / Friedrich Lange, a tailor (Schneider), his wife Elisabeth, and son Jakob (age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 33. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

Son Jakob from Katharinenstadt is recorded on the 1798 census of Beauregard in Household No. Bo30.

The 1767 census records that Heinrich / Friedrich Lange came from the German village of Nieder-Ramstadt in the Darmstadt region.

Luhm*

The marriage of Wilhelm Heinrich Luhm & Anna Maria Eber is recorded in the parish register of Coswig on 20 July 1766. It reads as follows:

"den 20. Juli 1766 Ist Wilhelm Heinrich Luhm, Knopfmacher und Kaiserlicher Russischer Kolonist zu Katharinalehn, verstorbenen Meisters Wilhelm Heinrich Luhms, Bürgers und Sattlers in Stettin, nachgelassener ehelicher Sohn und Jungfrau Anna Maria Ebern, Andreas Ebers, Ackermanns in Rauen bei Welckershein eheliche Tochter in hiesiger Kirche getraut worden."

Mai / Maÿ (Katharinenstadt)*

Wilhelm Mai, a hat maker (Hutmacher), his wife Dorothea, and children (Maria, age 11; Viktoria, age 9; Johannes, age 6; Katharina, age 1-month) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 49. They had settled there on 5 March 1767.

Wilhelm's son Johannes is believed to be the same Johannes who is recorded moving to Katharinenstadt from Zug in 1792 and is subsequently recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka076.

The death of Johannes Mai in 1834 is recorded on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 217.

Speier (Wittmann)

Gottfried Spenger [sic] & Eva Maria Spenger [sic] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 September 1766.

Gottfried Speyer and Eva Maria Speyer are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Gottfried Speier (age 14) and his sister Eva (age 13) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 16 along with their sister Sophia who is married to Johann Schaumberg. The 1767 census also records that they relocated to the colony of Wittmann in 1768.

Schotter*

Johann Schotter, a farmer, and his wife Anna are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 23 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Wittmann in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Johann Schotter came from the German village of Wiesensteig.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
