Schaumburg

The following marriage is recorded in the parish register in Coswig:

"den 9. Juni 1766 - Ist Johann Schaumburg, Weißbäcker und Kaiserlicher Russischer Kolonist, verstorbenen Joseph Schaumburgers, Königlicher Preussischer Geranadiers unter dem Printz Karlscher Regiment nachgelassener ehelicher Sohn und Jungfrau Katharina Schülerin verstorbenen N. Schülers, Bauaufsehers in Dessau, nachgelassene eheliche Tochter in hiesiger Kirche eingesegnet und getraut worden."

Schmidt (Katharinenstadt-5)

Hermann Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Anna are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 17.

In 1771, widower Hermann Schmidt and his son moved from Zug to Katharinenstadt.

In 1789, Hermann Schmidt and his family moved from Katharinenstadt to Rohleder.

The 1767 census records that Hermann Schmidt came from the German village of Gera in the Thüringen region.

Gateau

Johann Sebastian Gateau, an infantryman (Grenadier), his wife Anna, and daughter Katharina (age 1) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 13 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Zug in 1768.

Sebastian Gateau and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg01.

The 1767 census records that Johann Sebastian Gateau came from the German village of Serser [?].

Wittmann (Wittmann)

Ferdinand Wilhelm Wittmann, a soldier (Soldat), his wife Elisabeth, and children (Walburgia, age 10; Ferdinand, age 3) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 1.

It is after him that the colony of Wittmann took its name.

Ferdinand Wittmann is recorded on the 1798 census of Wittmann in Household No. Wm01.

The 1767 census records that Ferdinand Wilhelm Wittmann came from the German village of Reinberg.

Wilhelm (Zürich)

Johann Andreas Wilhelm, his wife Anna, and children (Margaretha [sic], age 5; Ludwig, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Franz Nikolaus Schröder.

Johann Andreas Wilhelm, his wife Anna, and children (Margaretha [sic], age 6; Ludewig [sic], age 2½; Johann Jost, born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Ludewig died en route.

Trub(e)

Johann [Nikolaus] Trube, a single tailor (Schneider), is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 130 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Biberstein in 1768.

The 1798 census of Zürich records Nikolaus Trube in Household No. Zr46.

The 1767 census records that Johann Trube came from the German region of Hessen.

Steininger (Zürich)*

Gottfried Steininger, a farmer, and his wife Gertrude are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 30 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Zürich in 1768.

Gottfried's widow is recorded on the 1798 census of Wittmann in Household No. Wm22.

The 1767 census records that Gottfried Steininger came from the German village of Göttersdorf.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
