Volga German families settled in the Last Mountain Valley district which includes the towns of Cymric and Duval. Many came from the colonies of Holstein and Hussenbach.
The town of Cymric no longer exists.
The congregation of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (southwest of Cymric; northwest of Duval) was the primary congregation of the community.
