Euler

Three Euler families from the German village of Eckartshausen settled in the Volga German colonies. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

Two Euler families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

(1) Johannes Euler, son of Adam & A. Margaretha Euler, was baptized 18 December 1727 in Eckartshausen. He had a son, Joh. Heinrich, who was baptized on 7 January 1751 in Eckartshausen.

E(h)rhard(t) (Shcherbakovka)

Hanß Michel Erhard was born on 26 September 1678 in Scheppach, now part of Bretzfeld in the Württemberg wine region, to Hanß Erhard and Anna Margaretha Hüteler. On 18 May 1702, he married Anna Veronica Burckart, daughter of Christoph Burckart. Their youngest son, Johann Christoph Erhard, was born on 4 April 1716 in Scheppach and was baptized in the Evangelical church in Waldbach parish the following day. Like his older brothers, Hanß Balthasar and Hanß Jerg, Johann Christoph was a vintner (Weingärtner), and owned a small vineyard in Scheppach where he produced wine.

Ewig

Johann Georg Ewig, son of Johann Konrad & Anna Margaretha Ewig, was born on 21 April 1740 in Schriesheimer Hof, Kurpfalz. The family also lived in the village of Wilhelmsfeld.

He and his brothers (Johann Nikolaus, b. 1727, and Johann Michael, b. 1731) immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Fridericia on 2 November 1759.

On 13 June 1760, Johann Georg Ewig married in Thorning [Denmark] to Maria Margaretha Filbert, daughter of Johann Peter Filbert & Anna Maria Stock. [See Filbert Family.] She had been born on 3 April 1736 in Gronau.

Erder / Jörder*

Johannes Erder (Jörder), son of Johann Adam & Maria Margaretha Jetter, was born in about 1714. Johannes Erder (Jörder), a farmer from Rippenweier, married on 2 March 1745 in Leutershausen to Maria Barbara Weber, daughter of Johannes & Anna Margaretha Weber. She had been born 23 June 1721 in Leutershausen.

Their daughter Eva Katharina Jörder was born 23 December 1752 in Heiligkreuz.

They immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) in 1760.

Erck*

Johann Christoph Erck, son of Weigand & Anna Katharina Erck, was born in 1693 in Nidda. He married Anna Margaretha Runck. The births of 3 children are recorded in Nidda: (1) Anna Katharina, born 26 December 1721; (2) Johann Wilhelm, born 23 October 1724; and (3) Anna Margaretha, born 4 July 1727.

Father Christoph Erck arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl. He is recorded on the 1767 census of Frank in Household No. 77.

Epp

Claas Epp (often referred to as Klaus Epp), son of Berend Epp & Maria Bergmann, was born 1 January 1803 in Schönsee in West Prussia [today, this village is located in Poland and known as Sosnówka]. He married on 20 March 1825 to Margaretha Klaassen, daughter of Dirk Klaassen & Anna Penner. Margaretha had been born 21 July 1800 in nearby Fürstenwerder.

Engelhardt (Anton)

Christian Engelhardt (age 24) from Seckenheim, Oberamt Heidelberg, migrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Fridericia on 1 May 1760 with Nikolaus Voigt.

The parish register of Fridericia records on 26 May 1760 the marriage of Christian Engelhardt & Anna Barbara Albrecht. She had been born in Heiligkreutz on 1 May 1741. [See Albrecht Family.]

In December 1760, they settled in the Danish colony of Friderichshaab.

The parish register of Friderichshaab records on 7 December 1762 the baptism of Johann Erik Engelhart.

Engel (Beauregard-1)

Johann Adam Engel, son of Christoph Engel & Justina Elisabetha Krieger from Schierstein, married Anna Margaretha Mattern, daughter of Heinrich Mattern & Elisabetha Margaretha Arnold, on 11 February 1764 in the Catholic Church in Landau (aka Landau in der Pfalz), an autonomous (kreisfrei) town surrounded by Kreis Südliche Weinstraße.

Anna Margaretha Mattern was born 1 November 1736 in Kloster Klarental, today located in the municipality of Wiesbaden.

Elsässer (Schwab)

Johann David Elsässer, son of Hartmann Elsässer & Luise Armbrecht, was born on 24 December 1734 in Gelnhausen, northeast of Hanau.

He and his wife Margaretha immigrated to Russia. They arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert.

They arrived in Schwab on 8 July 1767, and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 25.

In 1795, the family moved to the neighboring colony of Galka, although some descendants remained in Schwab.

Eite(n)müller

Johann Martin Eitenmüller, son of Johann Jacob Eitenmüller & Margaretha Elisabetha Friderich, was born 29 May 1720 in Fränkisch-Crumbach.

Johann Martin Eidenmüller married on 21 February 1749 in Fränkisch-Crumbach to Benigna Dorothea Christina Zahn, daughter of Caspar Dillmann Zahn from Idstein. She had been born 6 January 1721.
