Paulÿ (Kaneau)*

Sebastian Pauly and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 May 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Catharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Geier.

Sebastian Pauly, his wife Catharina, and sons (Johann, age 9; Heinrich, age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that son Heinrich died en route.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 74.

Zimmer (Kaneau)

Johann Zimmer and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 May 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Catharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Geier.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 75.

In 1786, Konrad Zimmer and his family moved from Kaneau to Biberstein.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Zimmer was a weaver while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.

Zieras*

Konrad Zieras, a weaver (Weber), and his wife Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 25 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Maria Sophia under the command of Skipper Johann Bauert.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Jost on 5 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 68.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Zieras came from the German region of Nürnberg. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Aschbach near Andechser Ried?.

Ziegemann

Martin Ziegemann married on 19 February 1759 in Frensdorf to Kunigunda Beck, widow of Johannes Hoffmann (who had died 12 January 1758 in Frensdorf). Kunigunda Beck had been born 23 January 1723 in Untergreuth and had one son Johannes Michael Hofmann with her previous husband. Johannes Michael Hofmann had been born 29 January 1756 in Frensdorf.

The births of two children to Martin Ziegemann & Kunigunda Beck are recorded in Obergreuth: (1) Johannes Lorenz, born 12 November 1759; and (2) Barbara, born 6 March 1762.

Ziegelmeier

Michael Ziegelmeier, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.

The 1767 census records that Michael Ziegelmeier came from the German village of Oetting in the region of Baden-Durlach.

Ziegler (Seelmann)*

Franz Ziegler, a cobbler, his wife Magdalena, and children (Elisabeth, age 15; Michael, age 13; Adam, age 4; Magdalena, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Der Jäger under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.

The 1767 census records that Franz Siegler was a blacksmith (Schmied) from the German village of Gemünden in the region of Würzburg.

Siegfried (Merkel)*

Christoph Ulrich Siegfried, a single barber (Friseur), settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

The 1767 census records that Christoph Ulrich Siegfried came from the German town of Stuttgart in the region of Württemberg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Siegfried family among the Volga German colonies.

Siebert (Semenovka-1)*

The parish register of Büdingen records the marriage on 1 July 1766 of Nicolaus Siebert from Somborn & Anna Maria Wilhelm from Hesseldorff.

The birth of Nicolaus Sieberth, son of Johann Georg & Anna Maria Sieberth, is recorded in the parish register of Somborn on 14 March 1743.

Siebenlist

Johann Siebenlist from Burg Sinn & Catharina Prunck from Peddert were married on 11 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Johann Siebenlist and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the pink Lev under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 96.
