Wen(t)zel (Keller-2)

Christian Wenzel, a farmer, and his wife Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 44.

Adam Wenzel, believed to be the son of Christian Wenzel, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Neu-Kolonie in Household No. Nk29.

The 1767 census records that Christian Wenzel came from the village of Scheer [?] in Austria.

Zitzer (Katharinenstadt)

The baptismal and confirmation records of Heinrich Zitzer and Elisabeth Leim have been located in the parish records of Usingen in the Principality of Nassau-Usingen.

Johann Hinrich [sic] Zitzer & Elisabeth Catharina Lein were married 1 July 1766 in the Lutheran Cathedral (Evangelische Kirche Dom) in Lübeck.

Heinrich Zitzer and his wife Elisabeth arrived at the port in Oranienbaum aboard the English frigate Love and Unity on 23 December 1766.

von Wipler*

Widower Karl Wenzeslaus von Wipler, a lieutenant (Leutnant), is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 57 along with a note that he settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Karl Wenzeslaus von Wippler came from the German village of Untitz.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Tag(g) (Jost)

Gottfried Tag (age 17) is recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 74 along with his stepfather Rudolph Krieger. They had settled there on 5 July 1767.

Gottfried Tag and his family are recored on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo33.

The death of Gottfried Tag in 1829 is recorded on the 1834 census of Jost in Household No. 51.

The 1767 census does not record from where Gottfried Tag came.

Stier (Jost)

Johann Christoph Stier, a miller (Müller), and his wife Margaretha Barbara are recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 72. They had settled there on 19 August 1767.

Christoph Stier and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo33.

Johann Gottlieb Stier, son of Christoph Stier, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Jost in Household No. 8. Another son, Johann Rudolph, and his family are recorded there in Household No. 9.

Steinbiess*

There are two Steinbiess families that settled in the Volga German colony of Jost on 5 July 1767. They are assumed to be father and son, but further research is needed to confirm this relationship.

(1) Georg Steinbiess (age 52), a farmer, his wife Johanna Sophia, and sons (Johann Gottlieb, age 14; Johann Immanuel, age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 4.

Gottlieb Steinbiess and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo24.

Simpel*

Gertrude Simpel (age 7) is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 109 along with her stepfather Friedrich Kaweiler.

The 1767 census does not record from where Gertrude Simpel came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Jarke*

Christoph Jarke, a leather worker (Lederarbeiter), his wife Julianna, and children (Dorothea, age 9; Valentin, age 4-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 130. They had settled there on 7 June 1767.

The 1767 census records that Christoph Jarke came from the German village of Quedlinburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Happe*

Ernst Elias Happe, a laborer (Fabrikarbeiter), his wife Anna, and daughter Maria (age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 50. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Ernst Elias Happe came from the German village of Eisenach in the Thüringen region.
