Kretlein

Jakob Kretlein, a miller (Müller), his wife Maria Elisabeth, and sons (Johann Heinrich, age 5; Johann Heinrich Samuel, age 3-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Straub in Household No. 21. They had settled there on 12 May 1767.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Kretlein came from the German village of Lorsbach in the Darmstadt region.

Herrmann (Straub)*

In 1790, Ludwig Herrmann and his family moved from Straub to Balzer.

Ludwig Herrmann, his wife, and daughter are recorded on the 1798 census of Balzer in Household No. Bz014.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Herrmann family among the Volga German colonies.

Götz (Straub)*

In 1791, Johannes Götz and his family moved from Straub to Preuss.

Widow Katharina Götz from Straub and her daughter Elisabeth are recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps80.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Götz family among the Volga German colonies.

Etzberger

Philipp Etzberger (born about 1756) and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Straub in Household No. Sr24.

Believed to be his sister is Anna Margaretha Etzberger (born about 1759), wife of Georg Philipp and widow of Philipp Hartwig, who is recorded on the 1798 census of Warenburg in Household No. Wr035.

Philipp Etzberger and his sons (Johannes Philipp & Heinrich Anton) are recorded on the 1811 census of Straub in Household No. 24 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Neu-Straub [year not recorded].

Becht (Straub)

Johann Georg Becht, a farmer, his wife Maria Katharina, and children (Elisabeth Margaretha, age 9; Georg Philipp, age 3-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Straub in Household No. 43. They had settled there on 12 July 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Becht came from the German village of Grüningen in the Nassau-Usingen region.

Ohl (Straub)

Philipp Ohl and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Straub in Household No. Sr35.

Philipp Ohl, his son Daniel, and son-in-law Philipp Metzler are recorded on the 1811 census of Straub in Household No. 35 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Neu-Straub [year not recorded].

Philipp Ohl and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Neu-Straub in Household No. 14.

Johann Daniel Ohl, son of Philipp Ohl, and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Schöntal.

Appel (Straub)*

Hans Michael Appel, a pipe turner (Pfeifenrohrdreher) from Unterreichenbach near Birstein, married on 21 May 1737 in Offenbach to Anna Gertraud Hunckel. They births of three children are recorded in the parish register of Offenbach: (1) Anna Elisabetha, born 10 January 1738, died 6 December 1738; (2) Johann Melchior, born 13 December 1740, died 25 November 1815 [in Dreieichenhain]; and (3) Anna Elisabetha, born 6 April 1743.
