Rothermel (Straub)

Daniel Rothhermel [sic] from Rhembach in the area of Nassau & Maria Elisabetha Ketter from Schwalbach were married on 16 April 1766 in the City Lutheran Church of Friedberg.

Daniel Rothermel, a farmer, his wife Maria, and son Georg (age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the ship named Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 40.

Scherer (Straub)

Andreas Scherer, a farmer, his wife Juliana, daughter Katharina (age 2), and mother-in-law Anna [surname not recorded] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the ship named Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 44.

In 1791, Johann Philipp Scherer moved from Straub to Warenburg.

Springer (Straub)

Widow Anna Springer, and her children (Peter, age 18; Maria, ge 16; Johann, age 15; Heinrich, age 12; Margaretha, age 8; Wilhelm, age ¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the ship named Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub and son Heinrich is recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss as being from the colony of Straub.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anna Springer and her family came from the German region of Trier.

Steitz

Franz Steitz, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the ship named Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767.  Katharina died on 13 October 1767 and Franz is recorded as a widower on the 1767 census of Straub in Household No. 57.

Georg Steitz is recorded on the 1811 census of Straub in Household No. 49 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Neu-Straub [year not recorded].

Wagenleitner

Jakob Wagenleitner, a wool weaver (Wollweber), his wife Klara, and children (Philipp Jakob, age 6; Maria Katharina, age 5; Johann Wilhelm, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard the ship named Die Neue Fortuna under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 137.

In 1790, Johann Wilhelm Wagenleitner moved from Warenburg to Dinkel.

Kessler (Ober-Monjou)

Just Kessler, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Justus Kessler and his wife Margaretha are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 55 along with their 6-month-old son Stephan.

Kessler (Louis)

Joseph Kessler, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 22.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Kessler came from the German region of Schwaben (Swabia) and that his wife Anna (surname Lich according to the 1798 census) came from the German village of Saargemünd in the region of Lothringen.

Hoch (Louis)

Widow Anna Hoch, a farmer, and her children settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30.

The 1767 census records that Anna Hoch came from the German village of Bernkastel in the region of Kurtrier.
