Hild(t) (Louis)

Peter Hild, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. He married Katharina Bauer and they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 47.  An orphan, Matthias (surname not recorded) is also recorded in the household with them. Widower Johannes Bauer, presumed to be the father of Katharina, is also recorded in Household No. 47.

In 1788, Peter Hilt and his family moved from Louis to Mariental.

The 1767 census records that Peter Hild came from the German village of Busendorf in the region of Lothringen.

Herbion

Christian Herbion, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.

The 1767 census records that Christian Herbion came from the German village of Bitsch in the region of Lothringen.

Hein (Louis)

There are two Hein families that settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. The 1767 census records that both of them came from the German village of Busendorf in the Lothringen region. Their relationship to one another is not recorded.

(1) Nikolaus Hein, a farmer, his wife, and his daughter are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

(2) Michael Hein, a farmer, and his bride Barbara are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18. In 1795, Sebastian Hein was killed in Louis.

Gareis

Mathias [sic] Gareis & Anna Maria Wagner were married on 8 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Joseph Gareis, a miller (Müller), and his wife Anna Maria Wagner arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the pink Cargo under the command of Lieutenant Moses Davydov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.

Joseph Gareis and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Köhler in Household No. Kl63.

Gänseblum (Louis)

Hans Gänseblum and his siblings settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 35 along with his stepfather Hubert Marx.

The 1767 census records that Hans Gänseblum came from the German village of Saarburg in the Kurtrier region.

Dening (Louis-2)*

Ulrich Dening, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 17.

The 1767 census records that Ulrich Dening came from the German village of Saarburg in the region of Kurtrier.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this Dening family among the Volga German colonies.

Dening (Louis-1)

Martin Dening, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and son Johannes (age 1½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Louis in Household No. 25. They had settled there on 14 June 1766.

In 1788, Martin Dening and his family moved from Louis to Herzog. In 1796, Michael Dening (born about 1768) and his family moved from Herzog to Mariental.

Delwa

Peter Delwa, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Nikolaus, age 16; Johannes, age 13; Margaretha, age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Louis in Household No. 14. They had arrived Louis on 14 June 1766.

In 1797, Johann Delwa and his family moved from Graf to Louis.

In 1788, Nikolaus Delwa and his family moved from Louis to Mariental.

The 1798 census of Rohleder records that Peter Delwa and his sister Maria Elisabeth from Louis is working in Mariental.

De Patiste

Leonhard de Patiste, a craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. He married Elisabeth (surname not recorded) and they are recorded on the 1767 census of Louis in Household No. 55.
