Bertsch (Chasselois)

Sebastian Bertsch, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and children (Johannes, age 17; Jakob, age 15; Anna Katharina, age 10; Anna Maria, age 6; Agatha, age 3) are recorded on the 1767 census of Chasselois in Household No. 5. They had arrived in Chasselois on 2 August 1766.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Bertsch family relocated to the colony of Louis.

In 1788, Jakob Bertsch and his family moved from Louis to Mariental.

The widow of Jakob Bertsch and her children are recorded on the 1798 census of Mariental in Household No. Mt18.

Ort (Chasselois)

Johannes Ort, a farmer, his wife Anna, and sons (Nikolaus, age 11; Mattias, age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Chasselois in Household No. 4. They had arrived in Chasselois on 2 August 1766.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Ort family relocated to the colony of Louis.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Ort came from the German village of Saarburg in the Trier region.

Fisch (Chasselois)*

Nikolaus Fisch, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Fisch family relocated to the colony of Herzog.

Nikolaus Fisch and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Herzog in Household No. Hr21.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Fisch came from the French village of Montain.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Chasselois

Augustin Chasselois, a military officer (Offizier), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 along with a note identifying Augustin Chasselois as the colony's mayor (Vorsteher). It is after this family that the colony took its name.

The 1767 census records that Augustin Chasselois came from the Austrian village of Rheinholz.

Nussbaum

Mattias Nussbaum, a guild-master (Zunftbürger), his wife Johanna, and son Anton (age ½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Chasselois in Household No. 2. They had settled in Chasselois on 2 August 1766.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Nussbaum family relocated to the colony of Louis.

Anton Nussbaum, son of Mattias Nussbaum, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Louis in Household No. Ls38.

The death of Anton Nussbaum in 1827 is recorded on the 1834 census of Louis in Household No. 110.

Nikolaus (Chasselois)

Johannes Nikolaus, a guild-master (Zunftbürger), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Nikolaus family relocated to the colony of Louis.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Nikolaus came from the German village of Saarburg in the Trier region.

Neuf

Mattias Neuf (age 12) settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34 along with his stepfather, Johann Stürtzer.

The widow and children of Mattias Neuf are recorded on the 1798 census of Louis in Household No. Ls05.
