Zimmermann (Seelmann)

There are three Zimmermann families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Kronshlot under the command of Skipper Ivan Kunakovskii. They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann:

Zimmermann (Mariental)*

Matthias Zimmermann, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 55 along with his Schneider stepchildren.

The 1767 census records that Matthias Zimmermann came from the German village of Grimburg in the region of Kurtrier.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Zimmermann family among the Volga German colonies.

Zimmer (Krasnoyar)

Widow Anna Katharina Zimmer and her sons (Johann Adam, age 18; Konrad, age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the pink Cargo under the command of Lieutenant Moses Davydov.

Anna Katharina remarried to Konrad Felsinger and settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 109 along with her sons.

Adam Zimmer is recorded on the 1798 census of Krasnoyar in Household No. Ks107 along with a note that he is working in Katharinenstadt.

Zern

Kaspar Zern, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census along with his new wife Magdalena in Household No. 5.

The 1767 census records that Kaspar Zern came from the German village of Weske in the district of Württemburg.

Zeiger

Further research is needed to confirm the connections proposed concerning this family.

Johannes Zier and his family (sons: Nikolaus, age 20; Johann Georg, age 17; Bartolomeus, age 11) are recorded on the 1798 census of Franzosen in Household No. Fz02.

The sons of this Johannes Zier are recorded on the 1834 censuses of Franzosen (Households 19 & 20) and Husaren (Households No. 9 & 36) and Schuck (Household No. 66) with the surname of Zeiger.

Sewald

Christopher Sebald [sic], a weaver (Weber) from Imbst near Tyrol, married on 16 August 1701 to Barbara Eretz from Oberaurach.

The birth of their son is recorded in the parish register of St. Lorenzo Catholic Church in Dirmstein: Johann Karl Sebald [sic], baptized 22 April 1716. The father, Christoph Sebald died in 1719.

Karl Sebald married in 1748 to Katharina Elisabeth Weingart, daughter of Conrad Weingart. Katharina Elisabeth Weingart had been baptized on 16 December 1719 in Dirmstein.

Sensdorf

Johann Sensdorf, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Der Junge Mattias under the command of Skipper Johann Gottfried Selander.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dehler on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Sensdorf came from the German village of Eisenbach in the Trier region.
