Wickster*

Christian Wickster, a cabinetmaker (Tischler), his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Eleonora (age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the ship named Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 5 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42.

The 1767 census records that Chirstian Wickster came from the German village of Königsberg in the region of Prussia.

Winker

Johann Winker, a Catholic chaplain (Geistlicher), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 44.

In 1771, Lorenz Winker and his family left Louis.

The 1767 census records that Johann Winker came from Wien (Vienna), Austria.

Winkelmann*

Karl Winkelmann, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Carl von Winckelmann is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Wingert

Johann Jakob Wingert, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.

Johann died after arrival in Russia and his widow Maria Katharina remarried to Gottfried Schaff. They settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 13 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 15 along with Jakob's surviving daughter, Katharina.

Windschuh

Peter Windschuh, a weaver (Leineweber), his wife Wilhelmina, and children (Gottfried, age 10; Maria, age 8; Johann, age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Johann Winschu [sic], his wife Wilhelmina, and children (Gottfried, age 10¼; Sophia, age 9; Joh. Friedrich, age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Johann and son Joh. Friedrich died en route.

Wind*

Gregorius Wind, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the Skipper Paul Adam Drath.

Georg Went and his wife Maria are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 19 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 39.

The 1767 census records that Gergorius Wind came from the German village of Botersinks in the region of Blumenfeld.

Werth / Wirth (Dietel)

Heinrich Wirth, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Grapp.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel. The 1798 census records Heinrich Wirth in the neighboring colony of Merkel in Household No. Mr22.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Wirth came from the German region of Pflaz.

Witzenhausen

Gottfried Witzenhausen, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aoard a ship under the command of Skipper Heidemann.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11 along with his new wife Maria Dorothea.

The baptismal record of Gottfried's son August Heinrich on 17 January 1768 indicates that the family was living in the colony of Dinkel [Ober-Hollstein] at the time.
