Wiong

Jean Baptist Wiong was born in approximately 1786, probably in France. He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians. He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou.

He is recorded on the 1834 Nieder-Monjou Census in Household No. 117. In 1822, he moved to Katharinenstadt where he is recorded in Household No. 219 on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt. He is not recorded on the 1857 census of Katharinenstadt, so is presumed to have died before 1850.

Wido

Jean Baptist Wido was born in approximately 1791, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.

He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental.

The marriage of Johannes Baptiste Witto [sic] from "Flanderitum" [Belgium?] married in Mariental on 29 October 1814 to Elisabeth Mertis.

His death in 1834 is recorded on the 1834 census of Mariental in Household No. 210.

Werschewen*

Mattias Werschewen was born in approximately 1785, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander.

He is recorded there on the 1834 census of Brabander in Household No. 80.  His death in 1846 is recorded on the 1850 census of Brabander in Household No.95.  He does not appear to have had any male descendants to carry on the surname.

Wandjor

Alexander Wandjor was born in approximately 1789, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim.

His death in 1845 is recorded on the 1850 census of Rosenheim.

Walter (Rosenheim-2)

Georg Heinrich Walther, son of Georg Heinrich Walther, a blacksmith (Hufschmied), & Barbara née Walther, was born 21 December 1789 and baptized on 27 December 1789 in Soultz-sous-Fôrets in the Alsace region of France.

Heinrich Walter served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim.

His death in 1835 is recorded on the 1850 census of Rosenheim in Household No. 97.

Waligantz

Johann Konrad Waligantz was born in approximately 1792, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt.

He is recorded on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 330.  His death in 1850 is recorded on the 1850 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 436.

Waleton

Jacques Waleton was born in approximately 1790, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann, where he is recorded with the German name of Johannes.

He is recorded on the 1834 Census of Seelmann in Household No. 1.  His death in 1848 is recorded on the 1850 Census of Seelmann in Household No. 1.

Busch (Dehler-2)

Michael Busch was born in approximately 1793, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Dehler.

He is recorded on the 1834 Dehler Census in Household No. 22, on the 1850 Dehler Census in Household No. 23, and on the 1857 census of Dehler in Household No. 29.

Brenning (Yagodnaya Polyana)

Heinrich Brenning was born in approximately 1792, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana.

He is recorded on the 1834 Census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 123.  He is still living as of 1857, recorded on the 1857 Census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 188.

Pick

Karl Pick (sometimes Bick) was born in approximately 1792, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.  He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana.  He is recorded on the 1834 Census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 157.  He does not appear on the 1857 Census of Yagodnaya Polyana, so must have died before 1850.

His descendants continued to live in Yagodnaya Polyana.
