Hötsch

Simon Hötsch, a tanner (Gerber), settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767.

He married Anna Magdalena, the widow of Detlef Schung who had died on 13 August 1767. Simon Hötsch and his wife Anna Magdalena are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 8.

The 1767 census records that Simon Hötsch came from the German village of Großleinungen [?] in the Mansfeld region.

Hesse (Stahl am Tarlyk)

Dietrich Hesse, a farmer, and his wife Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 5 September 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in household No. 46.

The 1767 census records that Dietrich Hesse came from the town of Kiel.

Herrmann (Stahl am Tarlyk)

Johann Heinrich Hermann, a farmer, and his wife Margaretha Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.

The 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich came from the German village of Gorsenbrun [?] in the Holstein region.

Hassel*

Johannes Hassel, a farmer, and his wife Margaretha are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 60 along with orphan Johann Eshouf [?] (age 10). They had settled there on 19 August 1767. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Hassel and Eshouf families.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Hassel came from the German village of Pegau in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hassel family among the Volga German colonies.

Haagen (Stahl am Tarlyk)

Johann Friedrich Haagen, a farmer, his wife Maria, and son Johann Nikolaus (age 8-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 63. They had settled there on 19 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Haagen came from the town of Schleswig in the Holstein region.

Gies (Stahl am Tarlyk)

Johann Klaus Gies, a farmer, and his wife Christina Brigitte settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 19.

The 1767 census records that Johann Klaus Gies came from the German village of Bergedorf in the Hamburg region.

Dietrich (Stahl am Tarlyk)

Heinrich Dietrich, a stocking weaver (Strumpfwerker), and his wife Maria Dorothea are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 50 along with stepchildren Sophia Müller (age 13) and Johann Müller (age 12). They had settled there on 5 September 1767.

The 1767 census records that Heinrich Dietrich came from the German village of Elmshorn in the Holstein region.

Bartel (Stahl am Tarlyk-2)*

Ludwig Bartel, a cobbler, and his wife Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Alder under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

Ludwig Bartel, a farmer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 67 along with a note that his wife had died there on 13 October 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ludwig Bartel came from the German village of Münden. The 1767 census records that Ludwig Bartel came from the German village of Minden in the Hannover region.
