Martin (Stahl am Karaman)

There are three Martin families that settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Karaman on 22 June 1767. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Valentin Martin, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Johann, age 22; Melchior, age 20; Elisabeth, age 17½; Magdalena, age 14; Anna, age 10; Anna [again], age 8) arrived from Lübeck in Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

Jansen (Katharinenstadt)

Gerhard Jansen, a cooper (Fassbinder), and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 57.

The 1767 census records that Gerhard Jansen came from the Dutch village of Holveland in Holland and that his wife Maria came from the German village of Frankfurt am Main.

Holzvogt

Friedrigh Holzvogt, a wagon maker (Wagenbauer), his wife Anna, and daughter Elisabeth (age 2-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 153. They had settled there on 17 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Holzvogt came from the German village of Parchim in the Mecklenburg region.

Holzer (Katharinenstadt)

Johann Gottlieb Holzer, a single merchant (Kaufmann), settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 5 May 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 210 along with a note that he's working as a day-laborer (Lohnarbeiter).

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Holzer came from the German village of Preßburg in Hungary.

Eifert (Hockerberg)

Johannes Eifert, a farmer, and his wife Rosina are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Boisroux in Household No. 59 along with his stepson Johannes Bergholz.

In 1784, Johannes Eifert moved from Hockerberg to Meinhard.

In 1788, Johann Heinrich Eifert moved from Meinhard to Basel.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Eifert came from the German village of Storndorf.

Weis(s) (Hildmann)

Peter Weiss, a farmer, and his wife Maria Eva Wolf settled in the Volga German colony of Hildmann on 20 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 15.

Eva, the widow of Peter Weiss, and their children are recorded on the 1798 census of Hildmann in Household No. Hd11.

In 1796, Peter Weiss (junior) moved from Hildmann to Preuss. Peter Weiss from Leichtling [sic] is recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps44.

Peter Weiss and his son Johannes are recorded on the 1811 census of Preuss in Household No. 44.

Seitz (Hildmann)

Adam Seitz, a farmer, his wife Maria Anna, and daughter Anna Maria (age 9-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in Household No. 39. They had settled there on 18 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Adam Seitz came from the German region of Dieburg.
